(George Burder, "Heaven and Hell") "And these shall go into eternal punishment --but the righteous into eternal life!" Matthew 25:46 The very word ETERNITY ought to fix our attention on this great subject! 0 that it may have as good an effect upon you, as it had upon the following lady: A lady, who was fond of gaiety, spent the whole afternoon and evening at a card party and other vain amusements. Returning home late at night, she found her maid diligently reading a religious book. Happening to look over her shoulder, she saw what it was, and said: "Poor melancholy soul, why do you sit here so long poring over your book?" After this she retired to bed, but could not sleep --she lay sighing and weeping for several hours. Being repeatedly asked by her maid what was the matter, she burst into tears and said, "0, it was one word that I saw in your book which troubles me --there I saw the word ETERNITY!" 0 that we could impress upon you a lasting idea of Eternity! A minute bears some proportion to a million years --but millions of millions of years bear no proportion to eternity. 0 how would the damned in Hell rejoice, if ten thousand years might finish their miseries! But it is for ETERNITY! Do you startle at the word? It is Christ's word. Christ says in the text, "These shall go away into eternal punishment!" Blyth Seniors meeting this month will be with the Londesborough Seniors on Wednesday, April 27 at Londesborough United Church. The meeting starts at noon. Don't forget to give the gift of life at the blood donor clinic, Wednesday, May 4 from 1 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wingham Knights of Columbus Centre at the Wescast Community Complex, Wingham. FROM BLYTH a.m. for May, June with the sign language as part of the response. Rev. Clark invited everyone to greet one another. The first scripture was from Genesis 3: 7-21. For the children's time Rev. Clark showed them an apron and asked them who they thought would wear this? He told them that people who wore an apron were busy people, some were cooks and some were builders. The apron protected their clothing from getting dirty. An apron shows that we are working for others by making food to sustain them and building homes for others. The children went downstairs for their time of fellowship. The hymn, "Fairest Lord Jesus" was sung. The second scripture was Entertainment Streetfest July 23 Blyth from Matthew 28: 16-20. The choir sang a medley of two hymns, "I Walk With Christ" and "This is My Story". Rev. Clark's message to the congregation was "Have Apron Will Travel." In the scriptures it was a tough day in the garden. God was angry at what Adam and Eve had done and promised pain to women and hard work for the men. He promised there would always be thorns in relationships. They spring up everywhere around the world. It is always easy to blame someone else and we think it makes us feel better. Blaming someone else never helped anyone and never will.
