Melville Church Guild holds March meeting
The March meeting of the
Melville Presbyterian Church Guild
and WMS was held in the church
parlour on Tuesday, March 15 with
eight members present.
The WMS Purpose was repeated
in unison to open the meeting. Peggy
Aitcheson read a story "Time of
Wakening" and the hymn "Beneath
the Cross of Jesus" was sung. Mary
Douma led in prayer and the scrip-
ture, Luke 24: 1-12, was read in uni-
son. Margaret Mclnroy sang a solo,
"I Believe in a Hill called Mount
Calvary".
Peggy Aitcheson and Mary
Douma entertained the members
with a skit "Easter Assignment" and
the hymn "Crown Him With Many
Crowns" was sung. The Mizpah
Benediction was repeated in unison
to close this part of the meeting.
Mary Douma presided over the
business. The roll call was answered
with everyone telling what they will
do to make Easter special. The min-
utes of the February meeting were
read. It was moved by Mary Douma,
seconded by Alice Marks that the
minutes be adopted as read.
Alice Marks gave the Guild trea-
surer's report and Leona Armstrong
gave the WMS treasurer's report.
The Springtime Supper to be held on
April 24 was discussed and the tick-
ets were handed out for the members
to sell.
The Guild members will provide
cookies and lemonade for the choir
following the concert.
Missionary Awareness Sunday
was discussed. The theme is
"Learning and Reaching Out
Together in Love". Because of the
Springtime Supper on April 24 it
was decided to hold the next meeting
on May 31. Margaret Mclnroy and
Alice Marks will be in charge of the
devotions. Margaret Mclnroy moved
to adjourn the meeting.
