Greeting worshippers at Blyth
United Church on Sunday, Feb. 7
was Mary Lou Stewart. Ushering
were Lissa Kolkman and Tom
Cronin. Marilyn Scott was pianist,
Katie Dockstader was choir director
and Bryce Glousher ran the Power
Point.
Rev. Gary Clark welcomed
everyone to church and drew
attention to the announcements
scrolling on the Power Point. Special
attention that there will be a fun day
of broomball on Wednesday, March
16 during March Break for kids ages
7-14 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. There is a
fee of $10/person. Contact Kathy
Douglas at 519-523-4380.
The first hymn "Come Touch Our
Hearts" was a new song that was
learned while the choir sang it once
and then the congregation joined in.
Rev. Clark lit the three candles on
the altar table. Rev. Clark invited
everyone to greet one another. The
opening prayer was said
responsively with sign language in
the response and followed by the
singing of the Lord's Prayer. The
first scripture was from Genesis
37:1-11. A new hymn "In Gratitude
and Humble Trust" was sung.
We watched a short video about
how small children can make a
difference. The choir sang the
anthem "Sing to the Lord." The
second scripture was from the
Gospel of Matthew 4:18-22.
Rev. Clark's message to the
congregation was "Ground Control
to Major Tom." In many ways David
Bowie was like Joseph in the
scripture Sunday morning. Joseph
had a coat of many colours and
David Bowie was a man that wore
many colours and styles of clothing.

The Group of Eight art show opened last week at the Queens Bakery in Blyth. The art show,
which features the work of eight local artists, is designed to give a place for community
painters, photographers and sketchers to show their work during the shoulder seasons.
Approximately 30 pieces were on display on the walls of the bakery and will remain up until
the end of March. (Denny Scott photo)

Our secret sins!
(Thomas Brooks)
"You have set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your
countenance!" Psalm 90:8
God is privy to your most secret sins! His eye is as much upon secret sins, as it is
upon open sins. God has an eye upon our inmost evils. He sees all that is done in
the dark.
As we are never out of the reach of God's hand, so we are never from under the
view of God's eye.
Oh! what dreadful atheism is bound up in that man's heart, who is more afraid of
the eye of his father, his neighbour, his child --than he is of the eye and presence of
the eternal God! Those who wallow in secret sins, act as if there were...
no God to behold the,
nor conscience to accuse them,
nor judgment -day to arraign them,
nor justice to condemn them,
nor Hell to torment them!
All men's secret sins are printed in Heaven, and God will at last read them aloud
in the ears of all the world! Though they may escape the eyes of men --yet they
shall never escape the judgment of God!
"For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether
it be good, or whether it be evil." Ecclesiastes 12:14
"Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and
laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account!" Hebrews 4:13
"Be sure your sin will find you out!" Numbers 32:23
"Cleanse me from secret faults!" Psalm 19:12
