having as guest speaker, Prof.
James Taylor of Guelph:.. .
,.The • president, Rev. G. R.Gei
O
i'er welcomed' visitors from
.
ton;' Blyth, Auburn and Goderich.
He .called on Mr Epps, 'who Said
it was a pleasure ' to introduce
,Professor. Taylor, as one of : the
most modern authorities' on
roses.

Taylor
his •. saidopen.:he •wasrargoing to
speak/on other. things as well
as -• roses . ;because it takes many
kinds of, plants to make a showy
garden;. starting in spring with
crocuses, then ':daffodils,' tulips,
Iris, ' peony; . delphinum,,, phlox,:
asters and daisies and then chry
santhemums. • These have their:
tithe ,and. plape ' to ' make . each.
season enjoyable.
:Professor Taylor spoke for 'a,.
short time but his main talk dur-'
ng.: the,: showing of his • ;beautiful`
slides which -painte, d up his 'talk
emphasized, one.. does need more:
than roses ;to. Make :a showy gar-
den. 'Following the :showing of
the slides, Mr ;.,:'Taylor was bom

Very . obliging and gave a wealth
of information' in .his. ,replies~
The president thanked Mr..

way in which it is forging ahead, ..
and,:suggested we try and enter

A cheque had been . received
from the Womens'. (Institute and
the secretary., • was instructed to
rewrite a:letter of - appreciation 'for'
This was another well attended
meeting; another : time .when
people felt . they really got their
membership fee returned to them
for the knowledge gained.
PROMPT' 'ACTION
must cozmnend . the police
for their., prompt action when.
they got a cionplaint.' There was
no dilly -.dallying." • .
We quote our Huron County
magistrate - in . disposing of, a;
charge under the C.T:A. '
This is high praise for our, pol-
ice and at the ;;same time serves
again to ' prove that the C.T.A,
has teeth. In this case the , fine
was .$100. or' thirty -days in jail.
Other recent offenders, hailed to.
court for second offences, have
been given jai3 terms,. .
Dozens of .'boo'tleggers 'and bot-
tle club proprietors. in Huron
County have been put out of
business in the past few years.
Our. Crown Attorney and -police
are to be very heartily tom-
mended.—Advt.
