The Town of Fergus - will be-

swirnming„ pool before the end of
1961. Council has decided: to ac-
cept an offer from Beatty Bros.
Lirited to. give the pool to the
municipality; The swimming pool
was built 30 'years ago by Beatty
Bros. Limited for some $32,080.
It has c)rilpletely equipped dres-
sing room,, filtering, systein,
heated water,1 a house for 'the
manager and a grandstand for
••spectatorS. Every physically -tit
child in tOwn can swim and the
Pool 'has produced several Can-
adian champions. Cost of operat-
ing the pool has always been paid
by the firm,. which was recently
sold by the 'surviving members
of the Beatty family. The new
owners are getting rid of all as,
sets that showed. a, Tops and the
pool has had : an average deficit
of about $3,000 a year. '
A public meeting 'W -as held 'in
Blyth to estimate the interest
the community has in continuing
the fall fair. Rural reeves in the

mon name, in fact twd of my

historic region for, the Presby-
terian ,Church. Cedar Creek
Church was organized in 1738 and
together with the nearby Cope-
quon° Memorial Church are the
two 'oldest congregations in con-
tinuous existence in the Synod
of 'Virginia. Then too we are re -

I shoveled any more' snow at
Ashfield than I shoveled here.
