Sounding of the Ashfield .Pres-
nterian Church; 'congregation
"was held on Sunday, June lith.
'The Ashfield congregation was
'first' recognized as a home rnis-
sion field of the London Pres
�`- bytery in 1848 - .. ten years be-
fore Lucknow came into being.
The guest minister on Sunday
was Dr. Frank Scott MacKenzie,
who returned to' his home corm -
4nunity for a dual, purpose
to participate ,in the opening, of
the new school in the section
where he learned the 3R's,.. and
to :occupy, the pulpit in; his
home ` ,church,: +from ` .which he
went out as a youth: destined to
rise to positions of distinction in.
the Presbyterian Church of Can-
ada, , and in the Presbyterian
College . at..: Montreal.
Professor MacKenzie addres-
sed an overflow 'congregation at•
the morning •service and again in
the evening ' had a large congre-
gation who listened with interest
'to an enlightening sermon on the
Doctrine of the Holy Spirit '
It is an inherent power in
