Sentinel Story
A'p ril 6tth., 1962.
Dear 'sir, •
There appears to be some con-
fusion resulting -from one of your
recent articles declaring, that I
was re=hired by: the local High
School. Board. The term is a mis-
leading one. The Bard had ac-
cepted my application' at, their
meeting, ,..but there was no "re-
hiring."
Applications had been received
and accepted, by other'Boards at
the •same time,• but there : still
wasn't any "hiring" done.
Before a teacher' is "hired,"
there must; be an agreement made
by 'both Board and: teacher, 'either
(a) verbally or (b). bY +a written
contract signed ,by both .• parties..
Since neither of the -Se procedures
had beentaken, there was - really
no "re -hiring"..
• • However, , on :.. Thursday, April
• 5'th, after. the Riverside Board had
accepted '`my ; . application, they
Called me ,and we made a verbal
agreement. that • T would still ac -
dept the position :;in their; school.
which happens: to be riightnear
my *inc.,
I hope ,that this might help
.to clear up •any' misunderstanding
that might be in the •minds, of
some people.
• ,Sincerely, ' '
