Nineteen ladies attended the
U.C.W.' meeting at. Mrs. W. I.
Millers home. Miss W. D. Ruther-
ford opened the meeting with the
theme "Peace?' ,.A letter . from
Miss Margaret. Leask, 'a mission-
ary in Jansi was read. Mrs, Tom.
Todd gave the topic. On "India."
Assisting with the topic were Mrs.
Roa7 Errington, Mrs. Frank Mc-
Quillin Mrs.:Green, Mrs, Mintz
and Miss Isobel. Miller... The 'Ob-
server will again be sent into
each home in the 'congregation
as in previous years; Mrs. , Green,

MRS. RICHARD McQUILLIN
Death came, to' Mts. Richard
McQuillin at Wingham Hospital on;
Tuesday, November 19, 12 days
after her 87th birthday. She was,
a lifelong resident of the commun-
ity , and held in high regard by
all who knew her. • -
She' had been in failing health
for a long period.' She was a
patient at Pinecrest ' Manor from
August .31st, 1958 until' April -,of
this year when, after suffering
limb fractures in a fau, she was
removed; to Winghairn where she
had since been hospitalized.
The Thursday • prior to her
death it .became necessary for her.
to • undergo surgery for the amp-
utation of a leg at the knee. Mrs,
McQuillin rallied .by the week -end
and seemed in improved health,
but the first of the .week her
condition worsened and the end
came quickly early Tuesday mor-,,,
*Mrs, McQuillin was the former
Radii* Melissa Alton, daughter
of Samuel Alton and Rachel Web-
ster of West Wawancish Township
where she was born on Novem-
ber 7th, 1876.
On December 23rd, 1895, Mr.
and Mrs. McQuillin were, married
at 'the bride's ° home and they
continued to reside all their life-
time in this community. Mr, • Mc-
Quillin died' on November 10th,
1951. * '
The funeral service was 'held
at the MacKenzie Memorial Cha-
pel, Lucknow on Thursday, con-
ducted by Rev. J. R. King of St.
Peters' Anglican church.

Township has announced that the

Quillin of 'Unless Township.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Me-
Quillin was predeceased by two
sons. Roy and Elvin.. .Roy, a
member of the 0 Tpronto Police
Force, was shot and killed while
on duty in Toronto some thirty
years ago. Elvin died 'the next
year followingsurgery for a
ruptured appendix..
Mrs. McQuillin was the last of
her family, pioneers in the com-
munity. She was predeceased by
three sisters and five brothers...
