Mrs. Wallace , .McClean visited
here over the week -end with •Miss-
es 'Nellie and Margaret 'Malcolm.
On. Saturday afternoon .an in-•
formal tea was held., at . the "home
of Mr.. and Mrs.' Jim' Henderson;
'in . Mrs. McClean's honour.
On Sunday, following the morn-
ing service many of the •congre-
gation. of' the Lucknow Presbyter-
ian' Church gathered on' the lawn
at. the Henderson home, and also
in the evening' at ' the Malcolm
home, to greet her with affection.
She and her, late husband ..Rev.
McClean were held in high es-
teem 'by. their 'Luicknow congrega-
tion... a...w"
Mr. McClean name; as minis
'ter of the Lucknow Presbyterian'
Church, in June 1954; andfour
months later Mrs. McClean, join-
ed him .as his bride. In 1959 they
moved to the 3 point charge of
lrnvale, Fergusonville , and . Craig-. •
hurst;
Mr, McClean suffered a 'heart
attack in April 1963. His passing
was a great . shock to all who
knew :him. 'Mrs. McClean " whose
health, is precarious has contin-
ued to ' make her home in ;Elm
vale..

Jack has a:. long; career of hard
rock mining behind 'h'im, and has
been :doing this. •work for the ' past
34 years. His, last stint wasgold
mining at the Tundra Mine which
is • 250 miles north-east . of the
great SlaveLake and about 1000
miles north of Edmonton. He was,
on that job for •14 , months • and.
was . "in an : isolated area. The
mine staff is. about' 90 and' Jack
tells: 'us that only three : of their,
group out of about: ,80 • miners
stayed over the year.,, . .
Tundra is the furthest north gold
mine . in North America. The bot-
tom level of the mine is 1286 ft. &
the perma: frost starts about 'the'
600 ' foot level. A ; winter road is
made over the ice : into . the mine
and ;:whentrucks of supplies make
the trip in they . have •' their ' own.

ther, sometimes , they '. are snow-
bound ' for days but have,: a cab-
oose, fuel and food to keep them
comfortable.
Edmonton is. home to Jack and
his ' three ' children at end school
there. His wife Bernice went' back
