THE SMALL TOWN HAS ' '
A BRIGHT FUTURE
•
Roger. Babson, . rioted U ea.. econ-

time been predicting the future of
the small town . and sees for these
communities bright times ahead. In
view, cif these predictions, leaders

this period of expansion. when . it
.tomes.
Says. Mr. Babson: Map makers
had better get 'busy laying out a
new, industria'1 niap for Canada and
U.S.A. For kenerations, the tides of
population and business enterprise
have been from farm to town and.
from • middletown to Metropolis.
Some ten years ago this swinghit'.
its peak.' The tide ` has 'turned in
favor of the small town Naturally,
in these. days we •think• chiefly of
"small town developments as a
step toward security, from invasion.
In due time, we shall see the:spirit-
ual; economic and social benefits
of the 'movement. A modern small
town under competent management
should have minimum hazards With
respect to' conflagrations .:and cat-
astrdphies. It should rate near the
top in health conditions, good
churches; school facilities and prose
