he has completed his basic train-

furlough with his parents, Mr.,
and' Mrs. 'A. P. Stewart. While in
England,.:: where: the climate. did
not agree' with. him, Jim was ill
with pneumonia.
WOUNDED IN ITALY
Mr. and Mrs. George' Burgess
eceive-d. word recently that their
on -in-law, James Mathers, had
been" wounded in action in Italy.
Mr. Mathers, formerly of Tor-
onto, has been in action with a
tank battalion' in 'the Italian
campaign.
Few details were immediately
available although he is known
to have. been struck on the foot
by shrapnel,
Receives Discharge .
•Wm, Stimson, Sr., has return-
ed to his home here since._
ceiving' his .:honorable• discharge
from the Veterans' -'Guad of
Canada'. Bill is a veteran of .the
First Great. War and has been
uniforrn'•with the Guarddur-
ing much of the preserit conflict.
His honorable discharge follows
an attack 'of sciatica which he
suffered some time. sago and

ment can be given' Because of this . rapid movement, his
mail may not"'catch up" for some time, yet,if ever he
longed for a letter from home, it is at such a time.
To offset possible delays, a new "Short -Cut" mail
service has been put into effect. ,A Priority Casualty Card
is filled in ' 'and , rushed by Air . Mail to his friends or.
relatives with instructions to add the words "In Hospital"
to the unit address they usually use.

Letters mailed from Canada 'bearing the words "In
Hospital" are routed directto the recordsoffice in the
.United Kingdom . or the Central Mediterranean Force, ..as
the.. cass may bet They are given. preference in : transport,
whether sent byAir 'Mail orMregular mail. Thusthey will
reach the acJdressee faster than ever before.
It is inevitable' that in tracing men who have been
moved, or wounded,some delays occur. But you can' rest
assured everything ' that can mean speedier . deliveries of
letters to. your men is being well and thoroughly done-
and will be done;
When you get a. Priority Casualty ' Card be sure the
words "In Hospital" are added to the regular unit address
when writing overseas. l

lived here as a child, when his
father was employed as a mech-
anic at Smith's. .Garage.

PO. John K. MacKenzie, who
.recently received his ,wings at
Melton, is .presently stationed at
Maitland, Nova Scotia. John . re-
ceived his entire training in On-
tario, and his present ' posting
marked his first"departure from
the province. Before leaving for
the Maritimes John- was the guest
of handl. at a family dinner at the
home of Miss Isobel McIntosh
in • Hamilton, and that evening
the •"Lucknow colony" in that
city were present to spend a
pleasant social time.

honorable discharge on Saturday.
Calvin's health. has been impair-
ed by a rheumatic and asthmetic
condition as well as sinus trouble.
Mrs. MacKay was formerly
Eileen Valad of. Holyrood, and
she and her husband plan to
