Mr. and Mrs. Mcllwraith spent
a few days last week in Toronto,
and attended the funeral of the
Matter's brother,` 'Mr. Hazelwood
which was held on Tuesday. M'rs.
Hazelwood . returned home with,
them. for a visit.
Mrs.. Janes Wilson Jr. had' .a
surprise handkerchief shower at
her home on Friday evening for
Wrens Jean. Wellwood of Hali-
fax and Velma Scott of . St. ' Hya-
cinthe, Quebec,. who return this
week. A. number •ofyoung ladies
•were. present:uring the even-
ing Jean and Velma were given
seats of honor when an address
was read to them by Mrs. John-
son Conn. Mrs. James Wilson and,
Mrs. Garnet Farrier stood behind
and showered them with lovely
handkerchiefs from a fancy de-
corated umbrella. The Wrens
were taken completely by . sur-
prise, and then in .a few chosen
words thanked- Mrs. Wilson and
the ladies. It-. was asp ---enjoyable
evening for all.

Presbyterian church was held at'
the. 'home of Mrs.. Ezra Wellwood
Thursday afternoon with a good
attendance: Mrs. Robert Ross, the

prayer. The scripture lesson was
read by Lovell McGuire and the,
topic was taken by Jack Bark23
well. Mr. Beech gave a talk. The
meeting closed with hymn 494
and the Mizpah benediction was
