The rangers on the Ombabika to Fort Hope canoe
• krauts in she far north on: July 4th• found an area 10

fire since their previous. trip. A• camp fire left on a
portage was the cause:
A prospector on the Montreal River started a fire
on July 7th which burned over 4,800, acres, in Baden
Township, destroying 1,000,00.0 feet of pine and 9,000
cordsof pulpwood, and which required attention for
a month.
A party of fishermen, camped on .Porcupine
Burton Township, Parry Sound, were responsiblefor •
a fire on July 140th, which, burned over. A5,900 acres
.2,000,000 feet of timber.
• Indians smoking moose meat started a fire on June
26th, 'which ran 'through 1,700 acres of young jack
pine trees. • •
Careless trappers on May 7th caused a fire in Head

at Eugenia Falls, where the Hydro
plant which supplies light and power
for several municipalities in Bruce

a grant of $10,000 to replace the Hos-
pital for Consumptives at Graven-
hurst. Dr;' Dobie, who •is in charge,
and Mr. Reid,' the secretary, put • up
strong', pleas for this humanitarian
scheme. The Finance Conimititee made
the -grant $5,000 on condition..that a

County. J. B. Watson and, IC J. Me -
Pherson ' presented the claims of.
Kincardine •Hospital,. Mr. L, 'C Ben-
ton and Mr. Crozier of thea Bank of
Commerce. ,presented • •the claims of
Bruce' County Hospital in Walkerton.
:They asked for $3,500 each and were
granted $3,000. `. Thos. •Stout, Indian
agent at 'Chippewa Hill, and the son
of the Chief put up a strong plea for
a grant of $200 to, the road through
the .Indian village and the.' Council
acquiesced in their request. Jas; Dou-
glas of Hepworth and Neil McDou-
geld of Arran pleaded ` for .: $200 for
the Trustees' and Ratepayers' Asso-
ciation; largely to combat the grow-
ing influence of the Teachers' Feder
ation and .they were donated $150. for
one of those tortuousroads near the
`rub: Bill -was ,as 'delighted-: as though
he had landed a great haul of White-
fish; One was suggested that the
musical squeak of Bill's number tens
