The compilation of returns collected
from elevators, flour mills and •railway
companies shows that on March al, 1917,.
the quantity of wheat, and wheat. feint
expressed as wneat, was 126 million •
bushels, aa compared with 197 million
bushels last yeartand79 million bushels
on February 6,11910. ,The total for 1917,
includes 67*Indhon bushels in the ele-
vators, flnueinilisand in winter storage
in vessels, 454638,000 bushels in farmers'
hapds and 12,862,000 bushels in transit
by rail. This year, for the first . time,
the iequiry was extended to oats, barley
and fiex. pt oats, includieg oat pro -
dude expressedrisPats, the total quan;.
tity in :Canada on March 31, was about

sion. The Commission had reported
against the .construction of the road,
and delegates 10 the meeting decided
• that it would be better to sell such of

the enterprise for the present.
• The decision'of this meeting is another
landmark in one of the greatest swindles
'ever pulled off in Western.Ontario. -The
road, about 30 mild in length' between
thetwo lake towns, was a scheme set on
'Ica by J. W. Moyer], of Toronto. He
estirnated the cest would be about $400;-

rich and Kincardine and the townships
of Ashfield and Hum to guarantee
