Letters
Hello Editors:
Page 5
We are still finding your project one of
interest in many areas. However, we are
rathered puzzled with the item under "Letters"
with regard to your Editor's note. Are the
last 2 paragraphs included in "note" or do
these quote a further letter from Mr. Reade?
If the former, then I feel very strongly
that your personal comments should be direct-
ed in private to their target, rather than
being included in what is being accepted -
and sponsored by membership - as a friendly,
informative local publication. Surely
vilifying our fellow -man is not your object!?
Sincerely,
Beryl D. Hogg
EDITOR'S NOTE:
Vilifying our fellow -man is certainly not
our object. But do we not have to distin-
guish between a fine man and how a fine
man fulfills his office? Fine men can be
wrong. In this case, the matter concerned
a public meeting)and a public enquiry
deserves a public answer.
To The Editor:
I am very pleasod to see how The Bayfield
Post has expanded since your first issue,
not only in news content and informative
advertising but also in the scope of cir-
culation.
In Issue A -i1, December 3, you carried a
very thought provoking article by Rev. R.
Patrick which I enjoyed. It would be nice
to look forward to seeing his articles on
a regular basis. Do you think he could be
persuaded to be a regular contributor?
I agree (Editor's Corner Issue A-12) it is
unfortunate that objective and impersonal
reporting leaves no loop -holes in which to
inject the complimentary observations that
people would naturally prefer to see applied
to them.
However, I find it difficult to believe
that any who might have felt that your
reporting was less than complimentary to
them would be so small or immature as to
believe that it was a personal attack meant
to hurt or discredit them.
I also know that many to whom I have talked
regarding Bayfield's own paper, have enjoyed
your candor as refreshing reporting, and
did not inject qualifying remarks (ie: that
you are 1g2 candid.)
In referring to informative advertising I
was thinking particularly of Merner's ad
in Issue A-11, Dec. 3. Prior to that I had
thought they only sold meat - now I am look-
ing forward to a shopping trip to their store.
I would like to mention that whenever possible,
I try to deal with the advertisers who are
helping to support our community paper.
