EDITOR'S NOT4:
In response to Ernest Reade's letter and
Editor's Note in Issue of November.26,
the Post received a telephone call from
Mr. Wilson. Mr. Wilson pointed out that
he is not a representative of Village
Council on the Cemetery Board. He fur-
ther said he does not have to make a
report to the paper nor does he intend to.
We agree that Mr. Wilson does not have to
make a report of the Cemetery Board
meeting. It's just that the Cemetery
Board, in a spirit of good community
relations said he would, and at the
time Mr. Wilson gave no indication he
objected to the idea. Had he said so at
the time, no doubt another board member
would have jotted down a short report
for the benefit of local residents.
Mr. Wilson seems to forget he is supposed
to be serving the public and his report
was to be for the benefit of the public,
not the publishers of the Bayfield Post.
It is true that no one has to do anything
they do not want to do. However, if that
is the mentality of those holding public
office, which unfortunately holds true
for some, what are they doing holding
a public office or a position where one is
supposed to serve the public? Serve the
public? What's that?
Editor's Note: The following is an open
letter to The Zurich News and The Bayfield
Post from Gerry and Pearl Gingerich to
provide information to the public on the
operation of the Share Crafts Inc., Zurich,
Ontario.
Share Crafts Inc. was started out of a need
to supply the Gift Trade with the Products,+
Handicrafts from the 3rd World. These crafts
which are produced by the SELF-HELP Program
in these underdeveloped countries need an
outlet for the products they produce. It
was the feeling of a group of people that
there needs to be a marketing agency that
can supply the products to the Gift Assoc-
iation on a commercial basis.
Thus SHARE CRAFTS INC. was born, out of a
need and a work of Love. SHARE means Self
yelp and Behabilitation Experience. Pearl
and Gerry Gingerich have been involved with
the Self -Help Program since Dec. 1975. This
work of love has been dear to their hearts
for these past years and is a work of enjoy-
ment and gives them a rewarding experience.
The People in the Commercial world are grate-
ful for the products and are grateful for
the opportunity for helping in this program
by buying. They become part of this work
of Love as they buy and sell. It also
is helping the small business person make
a living, as we do not promote selling
through the large chains.
The retail outlet known as 3rd World Crafts
is located in the showroom at the warehouse
in Zurich. We feel that as we have these
crafts available for the public, and through
the commercial world we become involved in
the private Cottage Industry Trade, which is
one of the best programs.... Helping people
help themselves. Pearl and Jerry have just
started to make available Canadian Products
from the Jails, the Handicapped, the
Mentally Handicapped and Group Homes, helping
them to help themselves.
