Letters to the
To The Editor
Your editorial in
last week's issue
affirmed that you
will be publishing
a Christmas edition
(Ist annual?)
However, it would be
interesting to know
if you plan on in-
corporating it into
your regular weekly
format or if it will
be devoted entirely
to Season's Greetings
and perhaps a few
Christmas stories for
the children (and
adults), suggestions
on how they might make
simple gift8 for their
parents or friends.
May I suggest that if
you have the space,
some of your readers
might like to share
some of their favourite
Holiday time recipes
for cookies, candy or
even decorating hints.
I was in a store last
Thursday afternoon that
had already run out of
The Bayfield Post.
I understand you took
more in on Friday so
I hope everyone has
their paper by now.
This would certainly
indicate that people
are already taking an
interest in "their"
newspaper.
My next stop was the
Post Office and as
usual the very large
waste basket was over-
flowing with the adver-
tising material that
people had discarded
before leaving the
building with their
mail.
Your advertisers fare
much better than that,
for your paper gets into
the home where people
can peruse it at their
leisure.
Writing of fare, re-
minds me that on the
weekend friends and I
dined at one of the
restaurants advertised
in last week's "Post"
and were pleased with
the food, service and
surroundings.
Although I do not go
fishing I read Milvena
Erickson's article on
the Rainbow Trout Derby
with interest, as it is
a very good example of
the type of events
reporting that enhances
a community newspaper.
Editor
By the way - with all
the special events that
proceed Christmas and
New Years, a calendar
or column of upcoming
activities would cer-
tainly be useful to have
if this would not
encroach on your classi-
fied advertising.
I found your interview
with Mr. Gary Masse
interesting and I
enjoyed reading
Rev. Les Shiel's
contribution.
Your article on the
death of Anwar Sadat
left little, if
nothing more to be
said - for it was
truly shocking -
but oh: how it makes
one think:
It is nice that Jan
and her group of Star
aficionados are get-
ting their paper de-
livery problems
sorted out. Hope
she will drop a line
to the paper and let
us know when every-
thing is organized
to their satisfac-
tion. In the mean-
time Jan, Good Luck
with your endeavour.
What you are doing
by making use of the
paper helps to
illustrate yet another
service of a community
newspaper.

EDITOR'S NOTE:
The Seasons Greetings
will be part of the regu-
lar Christmas edition or
a publication by itself
depending on the response
of the community. If the
response is very favour-
able we could publish the
greetings, Christmas stor-
ies, etc., as in one giant
Christmas Card.
The idea of a calendar of
pre -Christmas and New
Year's events is also a
good one. For it to be a
reality however, the
people concerned must let
us know about their event.
We hope folks will do just
that.
Editor -
Just a note to let you
know how much we enjoyed
the article "From the
Pastor's Desk" for
Thanksgiving by Rev.
Alan Thomas. It was
simple, clear and well
illustrated.

This should be the final
communication to and for
Sunday Star addicts.
The system worked well
Sunday, so we'll outline
the procedure for the
next few months. Please
clip the following
schedule so you'll know
for sure what week be-
comes your responsibil-
ity.
The person listed goes
to Clinton, (getting
there at 8 a.m. Sunday)
pays Mr. Burgess at
C & E Variety,
15 Victoria Street and
brings them to the
Nip N Tuck. He or she
writes a name on each
paper to reserve it and
picks up the money from
last week's sale. That,
way there is no indebt-
edness. (Of course, if
you wish, you can pick
up the money at Nip N
Tuck on the day before
Donelda is very kindly
keeping it separate for
us, so there will be
no confusion.
Last Sunday I got 20
papers. The extras
were sold with no
trouble. One reserved
paper was not picked up.
In order to avoidshort-
falls in money, we
should advise Donelda
to release reserved
papers at 1 p.m. for
general sale.
O.K., here is the
schedule. The papers
on the Sunday date by
your name are YOUR
responsibility. If
you break a leg, go
into labour, etc.,
the day before, beg,
borrow or hire a sub-
stitute. The rest of
us will be depending
on you.
