It was an interview your Editor had with Mr. Gary Masse of the Tender Spot Stores. Question - Who founded the first Tender Spot? Answer - My father, Leo Masse, established the first Tender Spot in Grand Bend. The original name of the store was Wally's Market. Leo bought the store from Wally Desjardin 1969. Question - What are the significant moments in the Tender Spot's growth? Answer - In 1974 we remodelled and doubled the size of the Tender Spot (renamed by Leo) in Grand Bend. In February, 1978, we opened up the Bayfield store. Then last year in March of 1980, we opened up the store in Zurich. Question - Were there any moments of crisis in the Tender Spot history? Answer - No, things have gone steadily forward. There have been no major setbacks. Question - What were the goals that you hoped to accomplish? Answer - We simply wanted to make sure that the business ran well by being competitive and by keeping people happy. Question - What would you say is your grePtestsense__of achievement? Answer - That all three stores are doing so well and that the business is steadily growing. Question - Is the business family -run now as it was in the beginning? Answer - It still is. Members of the family are in every store. Leo and I get around to all three stores regularly. Answer - As long as you work hard and look after the people, that is keep them happy, and keep your prices competitive, there will be no problem for the future.
