r
A SUCCESS STORY is what the following
interview is all about. It was an interview
your Editor had with Mr. Gary Masse of the
Tender Spot Stores.
Question - Who founded the first Tender Spot?
Answer - My father, Leo Masse, established
the first Tender Spot in Grand Bend. The
original name of the store was Wally's
Market. Leo bought the store from
Wally Desjardin 1969.
Question - What are the significant moments
in the Tender Spot's growth?
Answer - In 1974 we remodelled and doubled
the size of the Tender Spot (renamed by
Leo) in Grand Bend. In February, 1978,
we opened up the Bayfield store. Then
last year in March of 1980, we opened up
the store in Zurich.
Question - Were there any moments of crisis
in the Tender Spot history?
Answer - No, things have gone steadily
forward. There have been no major
setbacks.
Question - What were the goals that you
hoped to accomplish?
Answer - We simply wanted to make sure that
the business ran well by being competitive
and by keeping people happy.
Question - What would you say is your
grePtestsense__of achievement?
Answer - That all three stores are doing so
well and that the business is steadily
growing.
Question - Is the business family -run now as
it was in the beginning?
Answer - It still is. Members of the family
are in every store. Leo and I get
around to all three stores regularly.
Leo supervises the meat end of the business
and 1 supervise the grocery end.

TALES
WITH A TWIST...
He who laughs last...did not un-
derstand the joke.
It's easier to catch bees with
honey...than with a net.
Those are just two of the
"twisted sayings" written for a
contest by children at the Alex-
ander Elementary School in Dun-
canville, Tex. Other "tales with a
twist" penned by these young-
sters follow:
People who live in glass
houses...shouldn't take off their
clothes.
All work and no play ...is
disgusting.
Eat, drink... and go to the
bathroom.
Smile and the world smiles
with you...cry and you'll get into
trouble.
A picture is worth...about $10.
