How Many of Them Are Undermining Your Health? A human being is a collection of good or bad habits, and they make or unmake his health. Man can be the sum total of the health' habits he creates and controls. There are many bad habits that make of him a weakling and should he avoided. Health is the habit of using fore- sight instead of hindsight. If you expect to reach a vigorous, ripe old age, stop now and look ahead and see where your mode of life is leading you; then you can plan an improvement in health procedure. Here are 20 bad habits which undermine good health: 1. Eating too much. 2. Eating too fast. 3. Eating between meals. 4. Eating when tired or worried. 5. Eating when not really hungry. 6. Failing to balance meals ac- cording to food values. 7. Being irregular at meals. 8. Drinking ice water at meals. 9. Failure to drink enough water between meals. 10. Failure to eat according to your work, weight and temp- erament. 11. Late hours; lack of sleep. 12. Rushing to work too soon after meals. 13. Working or sleeping in poorly ventilated rooms. 14. Breathing in a shallow, lazy, half-hearted manner. 15. Allowing the teeth to go bad. 16. Straining or otherwise mal- treating the eyes. 17. Staying indoors too mucli. 18. Yielding to anger, fear, worry. depression and grief. 19. Underdoing or overdoing, amount of daily exercise. 20. Not getting enough rest and healthful relaxation to offset the stress and strain of one's daily routine. Our health cannot be better than the habits which either build or destroy it. This fundamental fact was memorably conveyed by an oldtime rhyme: "The strong, by bad habits, grow weaker we know; And by good ones, the weak will grow stronger also."
