On a recent .gcoutnsg top to the
village of Paisley, License Inspector
White prosecuted Thomas F. _Pearce,
a drayntan of Paisley, for having liqu-
or in a place other than his private
dwelling. As the fellow was "aught
with the goods" he was readily con-
victed and fined` the handsome sum of
$1,000. This- is. the h'••- :est fine yet
exacted in Bruce County for a breach
of the Temperance Act.
The specialty for which Pearce
made the big sacrifice was the storing
of liquor in the home of his mother
in-law while the good lady was absent
in the West. As Pearce slept occas-
ionally• in the home, he sought to
show that this was his private dwel-
ling house within the meaning of the
law, but the three magistrates, €ib -
son, Bal•lachey and George, couldn't
see it in that light, and hence assess-
ed him $1,000. As Rhe case was •pro-
secuted by the local authorities the
amount of the fine goes to the Paisley
treasury.
.DIDN'T CATCH ON
A proud young father telegraphed
the news of his happiness to his
brother in these words: "A handsome
boy has cone to my house and claims
to be your . nephew. We are doing
our best to give him a proper wel-

The •public school at Carlsruhe, over
in Carrick Township, has been closed
owing to lack of attendance. There
were only eight pupils on the roll and
the trustee board did not think it wise
to engage a • teacher at present salar-
ies to keep the school open.
"You're right' In the busy season when a trip to town
is necessary, you need a car that is ready to go. And the
best car is nogood without proper lubncation and good
gasoline. Imperial' Polarine and Imperial Premier Gasoline
have kept my car running 'slick as a whistle' every minute
all season."
•
IMPERIAL Polarine assures a motorist steady, dependable service
from his car. It gives correct lubrication to every type of motor
and eeery moving part. ' I t keeps your motor running smoothly and
quietly.
Imperial Polarine maintains, under all operating conditions, exactly
the right body to seal in compression and reduce wear—it burns clean.
Imperial Polarine establishes and maintains a power tight seal between
piston and cylinder,wa11s. Its body is proof against high heats and
the gruelling friction bf engaging parts. -
Look for the Imperial Polarine Chart of Recommendations when you
buy oil. It shows which of the three grades described below is best
suited to your1.ar.
Six sizes—gallon and four -gallon scaled cans, steel kegs, half -barrels
and-. barrels. Buy by the barrel or half -barrel and save money.
