Our four new Huron East councilors
will bring a different demographic to
the council and I look forward to work-
ing with them to maintain and improve
our community."
Going forward, Fisher said he will
continue to work for a safe, lighted,
legal pedestrian crosswalk on Main
Street, a splash pad at the Seaforth
Lions Pool, work with the private and
public sectors to have residential, com-
mercial and industrial land available
for development and ensure the pru-
dent use of resident tax dollars.
He added though he received many
favourable comments about the ease
and convenience of the online and tele-
phone -voting system used by the
municipality for this election, he was
very disappointed with the low voter
turnout, which was less than 37 per
cent overall in Huron East.
Fisher encourages anyone with con-
cerns to please contact him at bfisher@

Raymond
Chartrand
Raymond Chartrand
Raymond Chartrand wants to thank
all his supporters who believed in him
during this election. "I really enjoyed
going door to door in our Tuckersmith
Ward meeting and talking to the voters,"
he said. "Whether it was tallcing to them
on their front porch or having a cup of
tea at the kitchen table, it was a thrilling
and gratifying experience. It was pretty
clear, based on our huge success, that
the voters wanted change
Chartrand went on to say he was so
happy to see the voter turnout percent-
age had increased by 10 per cent since
the last election in Tuckersmith, adding
getting the chance to get young, first-
time voters involved in the election pro-
cess was great to see. 'After all, they are,
and could be, our future council mem-
bers," he said. "I look forward to working
with the other members of council and
feel honored to be representing you."

In the next four years, returning
Tuckersmith Coun. Larry McGrath says
he hopes to keep taxes in check,
improve the municipality's infrastruc-
ture and maintain essential services at
a reasonable cost.
"I anticipate the next term will be a
challenge, as the effect of the provincial
government's huge debt will continue
to trickle down to the municipal level
with the result being fewer government
funds and grants," he said.
McGrath says he feels honoured to
have been elected once again to repre-
sent the Tuckersmith ratepayers and the
municipality of Huron East as a whole.
Over 20 years of political experience
will assist him in making wise decisions
on behalf of the ratepayers and as a self
employed businessman, he realizes the
importance of balancing the budget.
McGrath went on to say he looks for-
ward to hearing the fresh ideas of the new
councillors, and once again worlcing with

and issues facing our community'
For Wilbee, one of the most
important issues facing the com-
munity is the loss of jobs and
stalled economic development
throughout the region which is
contributing to a population
decline and spiral of lost eco-
nomic activity despite the fact
Huron East and Huron County as
a whole has many strengths and
quality infrastructure.
"As a Council, we will need to
