Huron County Junior Farmers Pick Up After an extremely long winter, Huron County Junior Farmers were happy to finally see the sun and the bare ground. On Monday May 5, the club met up wearing their rubber boots ready to pick up the remnants from the previous year. With the sun peeking through, no rain and comfortable temperatures, five members made their way down Beechwood Line between Hydro Line and Bridge Road. In just that short distance, the club picked up seven bags of gar- bage. The club chose to do this as part of their conservation project for the year. The Junior Farmer's Association of Ontario encourages their clubs to get involved in whatever way they can in their communities to make them a better place for everyone. The club enjoys doing this project as it is always an adventure and they never know what they may find. Huron County has a rich history with Junior Farmers. The first club in Huron County dates back to 1920, which was located in Exeter. The Huron County club is a part of the Junior Farmers Association of Ontario (JFAO) which provides opportunities for young people age 15-29 of all backgrounds, but espe- cially those in rural Ontario. Mem- bers take on the challenge of explor- ing their individual talents and potential to develop personally while being involved in bettering their communities, networking, and having fun. JFAO's mission is "To Build Future Rural Leaders Through Self -Help and Community Betterment." If you are interested in joining or learning more about the Huron County Junior Farmers please email huronjf@jfao.on.ca, check out huronjf.webs.com or find us on facebook "Huron Junior Farmers".
