Laynee Partridge and Trevor De Corte
Welcome everyone to our Grade 8
graduation; we'd like to start our night
off with a bang... 'What's the difference
between a teacher and a train? One
goes 'spit out that bubble gum' and the
other goes `choo choo'!
Trevor I thought this was a time of
reflection; they're going to think we're
immature, we talked about this.
Over the years we've grown up not
only as a family but we've grown
through faith, friends, and not to men-
tion fun. Remember that time on
Pajama day, when Rienk wore his cow
onesie? And then...Laynee that's a
whole other story...Okay, okay. How
about friends?
Friends doesn't even begin to
describe how close our class is.
You're right, more like family. Camp
Celtic was one of the many times where
we became closer as a class. We got to
try new challenges that put our working
together skills to the test. We became
closer and got to view sides of our
friends we'd never seen before.
Faith is another component to our
school community and of our class. This
year we had the privilege of receiving the
Holy Sacrament of Confirmation, but
that's just the tip of the iceberg. We all had
to have lots of faith when it came down to
those tedious math classes. Seriously, our
faith has been a blessing to us for the past
10 years.
Agreed. We invite you to come with
us as we take a walk down memory
lane.
We'd like to thank all of the teachers
that we've had over the years for putting
up with us and making us the people
we are today. We couldn't have done it
without you. We started off with only a
select few, but we've had the honor of
welcoming new classmates each year.
In JK we had Mrs. Nowak; she was full
of personality and always had a smile
on her face. In SK we had Mrs. Smith,
she may not have been the tallest
teacher we had but she sure was the
most caring. In Grade 1 we had Mrs.
Hugill. If you don't remember how to
spell it just remember hug and ill. If you
ever got a boo-boo, you always took a
visit to Mrs.Hugill's aloe Vera plant. And
we could never forget our good friend
marshmallow or the incredible Mario
parties or cold prickly's or the warm
fuzzies or...0k Trevor, we all know Mrs.
Hugill was a great teacher.
In Grades 2 and 3 we had Mrs.
McClure, in these two years we invited
Rienk and Jack to our class. Bumping
our grand total to about nine?
Seems about right. Some of my
favourite memories with Mrs. McClure
were the famous Grade 2/3 garage sale,
and my favourite memory of all was 'No
J -U -N -K'!
We had Mrs. Nolan for Grade 4 and
Mrs. Finalyson for Grade 5. In Grade 5
Gerjan joined our clan. Mrs. Nolan and
Ms. Finlayson both had great personali-
ties and always thought of us when col-
laborating new ideas.
In Grade 6 we had Mr. S and Ms.
Wild, that year we welcomed Hudson
and Nicole. Both these teachers had
different personalities, but both had the
same goal, for all of us to reach their
highest expectations. We both dis-
cussed it and one of our favourite mem-
ories from grade 6 was the Argonauts
game and the trip up the CN tower.
Trevor: Then the year had finally
come, the year we dreaded most, the
fantabulous 14 had been split up. Some
of us were in Grade 6/7 with Mr.S and
Mrs. Wild and the others were in 7/8
with Mrs. McLlwain. That year Emma
came and joined our grade 7/8 class.
Ms. S, rather than having her as a
teacher, we've had her as a wonderful
addition to our class, she made our
EQAO test in grade 6 seem like a breeze,
and is always looking out to help us in
everything we do in every possible way.
We would also like to give a special
thanks to Mrs.Ducharme for teaching
us the wonderful gift of music through-
out our years here at StJames.
Trevor have you ever noticed that all of
the teachers we've had, left our school...
right after having us in their class?
Same with our principals, five differ-
ent principals in 10 different years, I'm
beginning to notice a bit of a trend.
This school year was split 50/50
between two wonderful teachers. The
first half of the year was spent with Mrs.
McLlwain. She is a wonderful teacher
who never minded giving us extra gym
time or playing a quick game of scata-
gories with us, especially after a long,
hard work period.
The second half of the year was spent
with Mrs. Irwin. She has prepared us
very well for high school and we can't
thank her enough.
And now, to the main attraction of
the night, the graduates of 2014.
Welcome everybody to a night at the
St. James Grammys!
