8 Huron Expositor • Wednesday, January 22, 2014 Goderich man says the Lord was with him on a snowy night CONTINUED FROM > PAGE 6 This storm was unrelenting, blowing, howling, often tipping my large van from side to side and the snow beginning to entomb me. I thought maybe I should try to walk home; it's about a mile. Don't ever do that. I got about 50 feet and realized I was panting like an old racehorse. A voice told me to turn around now or you won't need the movers you're expecting. (They never did show up by the way - for three days, it was so bad.) So I had the task of turning around and reaching the warmth of my van in the blinding snow. After falling on my face a couple of times, I crawled back to my lifesaving truck. Even if I die tonight, I feel calm, not afraid now, and accepted what was likely going to happen. "Ok;" I said to a voice in my ear, "I'11 try the phone again." Then I did hear the voice of an angel. "This is 911, what is your emergency?" I asked if she was real and her response was, "Don't worry, someone will help you." There's a lot more to story, but I hope you get where I was going. I'm going to refer to Jenkins now on as "The Jenkins Storm Angels". But I do know whom else the credit goes to besides them. Using the term "Thank God" has new meaning to me now. God Bless you all and blessing in the New Year. Wayne Hawthorn.
