Huron Expositor, 2014-12-24, Page 22 Huron Expositor • Wednesday, December 24, 2014 Food Bank receives special delivery Whitney South Huron Expositor Volunteers at the Seaforth and District Food Bank received a surprise special delivery last week, just in time for Christmas. On Dec. 18, a truck carry- ing over $2,200 worth of canned and non-perishable food items pulled up to the backdoor of town hall, a gift from the workers and com- panies involved in the St. Columban Wind Project. According to Brittany Singer, administrative assis- tant for Mortenson Con- struction as well as captain of the food project, donating to a worthy organization is an annual tradition for the group. "Each year we fill a trailer decorated as a present to support the local community as best we can," she explained, adding this year's haul was collected in just 18 days. "I actually live in Sea - forth right now while work- ing on the project so I'm most familiar with the com- munity. I've really appreci- ated the hospitality that I've received here so I wanted to give back to Seaforth." Singer went on to say the project was such a great suc- cess due to the participation of donations also received by numerous subcontractors on the project. Volunteers from the St. Columban Wind Project and the food bank unload a truck full of donations. Whitney South, Huron Expositor Project leader Brittany Singer and Kevin Lyon, with the St. Columban Wind Project, presented their holiday donation to food bank coordinator Herb McGowan on Dec.18. "They were all amazing, we couldn't have done this without them:' For Herb McGowan, food bank coordinator, the donation couldn't have come at a better time.
