It was that time of year
again, time for the pro golf-
ers to take over the Seaforth
Golf Club for the annual
Country Class Open.
Kicking off the weekend,
the club hosted a few warm
up events on July 31, includ-
ing the Junior Buddy Pro Am
in the morning, a Wee Break
competition and an adults Pro
Am in the afternoon.
Young golfers from as far as
Toronto played with the pros
during a nine hold scramble
followed by lunch.
The Wee Break Golf Demo
saw the kids teamed up with a
pro to compete in three chal-
lenges involving putting, chip-
ping and balloon breaking.
Admission to the Wee Break
was free, and both youngsters
and parents were encouraged
to come out and enjoy the fun.
First, the junior golfers
directed their blindfolded pros
in a putting competition. Next
they took turns trying their skill
at chipping in an effort to get
the ball over a barrier. Finally,
teams brought out the big guns,
attempting to drive the ball and
break a bunch of balloons set
up down the range.
The Wee Break was spon-
sored by the Bruce Wilson
Memorial Junior Golf Fund and
wound up with a round of ice
cream for all the juniors.
In the final event of the day,
teams of amateurs played a
round of 18 holes with the pros
followed by dinner and guest
speaker Bryan DeCorso, a for-
mer winner on the Nationwide
Tour who also played in the Pro
Am.
The competition continued
the rest of the weekend, finish-
ing up Sunday afternoon.
Pro Simon Reyers sets up his
shot on the 8th hole at the
Seaforth Golf Club.
Amateur golfer Arthur Hoof tees off during the Country Classic
Pro Am competition.
