ealth trade show a success
The Bridges to Better Health
trade show held on September
13, at the Holmesville Commu-
nity Centre, was a definite suc-
cess, with close to 100 people in
attendance. Twenty-nine
exhibitors were present, and
several reported significant
sales or leads.
'All in all, a successful day,"
reported Alison Lobb and Kim
Postma, Business Advisors with
the SBEC, "and we will defi-
nitely consider making this an
annual event'
The event came about as a
partnership of the Huron Small
Business Enterprise Centre,
Our Soul Centre, a store on
South Street in Goderich, and
Janet Brunswick, a Registered
Holistic Practitioner who works
from the Clinton Chiropractic
Centre.
In response to queries from
her customers, the idea was ini-
tially suggested by Connie
Brushett, owner of Our Soul
Centre, and the partnership
came together quickly. "We
were all committed to the con-
cern about improved quality of
life; commented Connie.
Six speakers took part in the
event, covering a wide range of
topics.
The Community Food Advi-
sors kicked things off with a
presentation entitled, Healthy
Eating from the "Farm to Table"
Box, and finished their session
by donating two food boxes as
door prizes. Their cartons were
full of fresh, local produce, often
with menu and recipe sugges-
tions, and some in the audience
expressed surprised to hear
they can receive local produce
from the Food Box throughout
the entire year. "What is availa-
ble depends largely on the sea-
son however'; reported Cindy
Boss, a Community Food Advi-
sor. John Sommerton, from
London, presented two ses-
sions, Stress & Anxiety, Con-
trolled Naturally and Natural
and Sustainable Weight Loss,
and both were well attended.
He spoke of the need to bring
balance in your life as an
important part of good health.
Jenna Smith's talk on Self Mas-
tery: The Key to your Ideal Life
is here, followed the same
theme and she provided a
checklist for participants to
evaluate their level of life satis-
faction. Connie Brushett, from
Our Soul Centre, facilitated a
session on Meditation, the Ease
of Practice, which relaxed some
