The Fifth Annual Doubles Crokinole
Tournament was held in Brucefield
Community United Church last Satur-
day, Oct. 18th which was hosted by
Crokinole Depot.com and the Varna
Crokinole Club. Players come from
London, Formosa, Teaswater, Hamil-
ton, Belleville, Waterloo, Toronto,
Waterloo, Chesley, Hanover, Clinton,
Exeter, Dorchester, Belmont and Varna.
Bluewater Mayor Bill Dowson came at
lunch time and welcomed everyone
and brought Greetings from Bluewater.
Players were divided into two groups
the Recreation Division and the Com-
petitive Division. Winners of the Rec
Divison went to 10 yr old Abijah and his
Dad Rueben Jong from Hamilton, 2nd
place to Conrad Sitter and Bill Heather
from Exeter, 3rd place to John Lichity
and Bob Jones from the St. Jacobs Club
and 4th place went to Murray Perdue
and David Whyte from the Varna Club.
In the Competitive Division 4th place
went to Peter Tarle and Louie Gouthier
from the Quinte Region Crokinole Club
in Beleville, 3rd place to Eric Milten-
burg of Toronto and Ron Ressnor from
London, 2nd place to a father -son team
Fred Slater and Justin Slater and 1st
place went to the hosts the brother
team of Raymond and Jason Beierling.
Congrats to all the winners and thanks
to all whom come out for their support.
Fred Slater won one of the50/50
draws and Mary Hohman of London
won the other draw. Door Prizes
donated by Melissa Versinga, Golden
Paws and Hockey Players Ryan and Cal
0 Riley were won by Leo Brown Lon-
don, Margaret Hayter Varna, Fred Slater
and Bill Stephenson Varna.
Happy 40th Wedding Anniversary
was wished to Joanne and Peter Carter
from Teaswater. The Varna Club was
well represented and I would like to
thank the Varna Players as well as all
others for their participation and also to
Crokinole Depot.com hosts Raymond
and Jason Beierling for a well run tour-
nament. Thanks also to Ruby Lefaive,
Mona Stephenson and Sarah Beierling
for the great lunch they prepared and
served. We look forward to the 6th
Annual next year. Owen Sound and
Scone Crokinole Clubs host their 4th
Annual Scenic City Crokinole Tourna-
ment Nov 22 2014. For anyone inter-

The Odd Fellows in Brucefield hosted
their 2nd card party for the season on
Thursday evening with High Man Mack
Webster, low man Doug Cartwright,
High lady Shirley Hargraves, Low lady
Janet Webster and most lone hands
went to Bob Thomas. Draws were won
by Fred McGregor and Margaret Hayter.
Cards will resume Thursday, Oct. 30th.

Upcoming meetings at the Brucefield
Community United Church are the
U.C.W. Meeting November 4th at
7:30pm, Stewardship Meeting Novem-
ber 18th at 7:30 and a BCUC Council
Meeting Dec. 3 at 7:30pm. There will be
an All Saints Memorial Service Satur-
day Nov. 1st at the BUCC. Everyone is
welcome to attend to honour members
of the Faith Community who have
passed away during the past year. Any-
one wishing to share a reading or
prayer as part of this service should
contact Colin Snyder.

Church hosts a turkey and ham dinner
