he eventually gave to the
Clinton hospital in 1922.
Upon giving the house to the
hospital McTaggart then
built the house at 70 Shipley
Street.
Throughout the years, the
home's various owners have
undertaken numerous reno-
vations and built various
additions. For example, the
original kitchen was turned
into a laundry room and at
that time a new kitchen was
built. New windows and a
second fireplace have also
been installed.
At the same time, how-
ever, many of the original
elements of the home
remain. For example, one of
the fireplaces, the frame-
work around the windows
and all of the floors (except

for the flooring in the
kitchen) are original. Birch
and cherry make up the
flooring on the main floor
and pine flooring make up
the upstairs flooring. All of
the doors in the home are
also heavy hung, wooden
doors and the closets are all
cedar lined.
It is also believed that at
one point there was a large
orchard and stable in the
backyard of the home.
The Rowats have resided
at 70 Shipley Street for 16
years and thoroughly enjoy
living in such a historical
house. They are also excited
to be involved in the Home
For The Holidays House
Tour and welcome local resi-
dents to their home to dis-
cover interesting decorating
ideas for the holidays.

located at 76142 London
Road just outside of Clinton,
