Goderich man faces a slew of charges after June 10 arrest
GODERICH - A 19 -year-old male is
facing six criminal charges following an
incident police responded to on June
10.
According to police, at 11:20 p.m.
Huron County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) responded to a call of an
intoxicated and upset male that was
walking in the area of Cameron and
Raglan Streets damaging vehicles.
Police responded to the scene and
located a Ford Taurus that had a
smashed windshield.
Police were also informed by wit-
nesses the same male was also seen
driving a green Subaru Leagacywith
two flat tires.
Shortly thereafter, police observed
the driver of the suspect vehicle fail to
stop at a stop sign at the intersection of
Blake Street and South Street. Police
followed the vehicle and it was stopped
at a private drive on South Street.
Upon stopping the vehicle the driver
immediately exited the car and
attempted to push his way past the
officers to gain entry into a residence,
police officials said.
Police said officers determined the
male was impaired by alcohol and
proceeded to arrest the driver for
impaired driving.
Police alleged the male began to
resist arrest and attempted to break free
from the officers, eventually headed
one of the arresting officers. Officers
were able to gain control of the male
and he was placed into custody.
Officers then transported the male to
the hospital to be checked over for a
pre-existing injury and while he was
being escorted into the hospital he pro-
ceeded to kick the escort officer.
Both officers sustained minor
injuries.
As a result, the 19 -year-old male
from Goderich faces;
- Two counts of Assault a Peace
Officer contrary to section 270(1)(a)
• Resist Peace Officer contrary to sec-
tion 129(1)(a)
• Dangerous Operation of a Motor
Vehicle contrary to section 249(1)(a)
• Driving While Ability Impaired con-
trary to section 253(1)(a)
• Mischief Under $5,000 contrary to
section 430(4)
He was held in custody for a bail
hearing and has since been released
from custody with his next court

2014 at the Ontario Court of Jus-
tice in Goderich.
CENTRAL HURON - At
approximately 1:30 p.m. on May
30, 2014 Huron County OPP
officers responded to Blyth Road
to patrol for a pickup truck that
was observed heading west-
bound in an erratic manner.
Police received information
the driver was weaving in and
out of her lane and was now
stopped on the shoulder of the
road.
A Huron County OPP officer
located the suspect vehicle, a
beige Toyota Tacoma on Blyth
Road west of Sharpe's Creek
Line.
Police said upon speaking
with the driver the officer noted
the driver had consumed alco-
hol and was displaying several
signs that she was impaired by
alcohol and the officer also
observed an open bottle of alco-
hol lying on the front passenger
seat.
The female driver was
arrested for impaired driving
and was transported to the
Huron Detachment for breath
tests. She provided two samples
of her breath to a qualified
intoxilizer technician and both
samples were found to be over
the legal limit.
As a result, a 64 -year-old
woman from Goderich has been
charged with impaired driving,
drive motor vehicle - over 80
milligrams of alcohol and drive
motor vehicle with liquor read-
ily available.
She has a court appearance
scheduled for the Ontario
Court of Justice in Goderich on
July 7. She received an auto-
matic 90 -day driver's license
suspension and her motor
vehicle was been impounded
for seven days.
BLUEWATER - A 39 -year-old
male was without a driver's
licence after it was suspended
following a traffic stop on June 8.
According to police, shortly
before 3:00 a.m. the driver of a
Dodge Caravan entered a
Reduce Impaired Driving Every-
where (R.I.D.E) checkpoint
located on Main Street and the
Square in Bayfield.
Upon speaking with the driver
the Huron County Ontario Pro-
vincial Police (OPP) officer
detected the driver had been
drinking alcohol.
The driver provided a sample
of his breath on a roadside -
screening device and he regis-
tered a warning. As a result, the
male from Sault Ste. Marie was
served with a three-day driver's
licence suspension.
HURON EAST - Huron
County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) officers are cur-
rently investigating the theft of a
2011 Ford F-150 FX4 four -door
pickup truck valued at $28,000.
At approximately 10:00 p.m.
on June 9, the truck owner
attended his place of work
located on Newry Road and
parked his truck in the company
parking lot.
Early this morning he
returned to his vehicle only to
find it had been stolen.
Police have since learned the
stolen pickup truck was spotted
on Concession Road #3 in
Mapleton Township of Welling-
ton County. Just before 4:00
a.m. a property owner observed
a suspect with the stolen vehicle
attempting to steal gasoline
from a gas pump at the
residence.
The property owner was able
to stop the theft however the
suspect was able to flee the
scene in the stolen truck.
The black pickup truck has
tinted windows, a soft tonneau
cover and is equipped with tow-
ing mirrors.
It should be noted the pickup
was left unlocked with the keys
easily accessible inside the
console.
Huron County OPP would like

NORTH HURON - A two -
vehicle collision north of Wing -
ham claimed the life of a Lon-
don woman last week.
At 12:40 p.m. on Mon., June 9,
Huron County Ontario OPP
along with South Bruce OPP,
Huron County EMS and fire-
fighters from North Huron and
Teeswater fire departments
responded to a two -vehicle col-
lision on London Road between
Versteeg Line and Gilmour
Line. Police said preliminary
investigation has revealed the
driver of a Chevrolet Malibu was
travelling southwest on London
Road when for unknown rea-
sons her vehicle crossed the
centerline and collided with the
driver's side of a Ford F-150 &
attached flatbed trailer that was
travelling northeast on London
Road.
The driver of the Chevrolet
Malibu was transported from
the scene by land ambulance
and was later pronounced
deceased at hospital in Wing -
ham. The deceased has been
identified as 83 -year-old Cor-
nelia Noordink from London,
ON.
The lone passenger in her
vehicle was her husband,
81 -year-old Evert Noordink. He
was transported to hospital in
London by air ambulance with
serious injuries.
A 32 year old male passenger
in the Ford -F150 sustained a
minor injury. The other three
occupants in the pickup were
uninjured.
