This year's OBRA Summer Classic was the association's first ever non -membership, non -permit show meaning that individuals could attend the event without being a member and facing a financial penalty. OBRA says that this was a good way to introduce people to the association and show them the quality of their shows. One of the highlights at this year's show was the Futurity Class, a class meant for 4-5 year old horses in their first year of competition. The added prize money for the show was $5,400. OBRA is a nonprofit organiza- tion and all proceeds of its activ- ities are returned to the benefit of its members and to promote speed events throughout Ontario. The National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA) out of Augusta, Georgia is another organization whose purpose is to promote the sport of barrel racing and is the largest in the world. It has over 23,000 members of all ages across the United States and affiliates in twelve countries including Australia, Brazil, Can- ada, China, France, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Panama, Spain, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
