In this brand new "made in Blyth" produc- tion, director Janet Amos has created a humorous and heartfelt show that brings Bishop's heroic exploits to life. Robert Reid of the Kitchener - Waterloo Record calls it a "soaring" production. The incomparable J.D. Nicholsen "delivers a superb performance" (K -W Record) as the war hero, and almost 20 other characters Bishop encounters in his adven- tures; from a Brigade Commander to Lady St. Helier from Sir Hugh Cecil to the Lovely Helene, Nicholsen changes char- acter seamlessly. Marek Norman acts as Narrator and Piano Player. His on stage chemistry with Nicholsen is pure magic. Blyth artist challenges society's wastefulness The Blyth Festival Art Gallery features local artist Kelly Stevenson in its fourth exhibition of the season. The Blyth resident moved to town as a teen- ager ten years ago. Since graduating from the Ontario College of Art and Design in 2012, she has participated in a number of shows in Toronto, Stratford and Huron County, win- ning awards for her work. The art pieces in "Who Heals You", use a variety of media and are intended to hold a mirror up to ourselves as a society and ask us to examine our consumerism. The imagery of Kelly's paintings originates from a combination of broken or damaged objects, hard- ware, and discarded tech- nology. Working on paper or surfaces that have lost their original purpose, she strives to open a dialogue with the viewer. Embrac- ing a naive style, the exhi- bition consists of works that explore relationships between religion, technol- ogy, violence, hope, and human connections. Through the use of a par- allel universe, the works take inspiration from the society we live in and examine the darkness and light that's in all of us. Kelly attempts to under- stand the world we live in, and the connections between humans in our technology filled times.
