Wilson as interim PC leader

With the election of Jim
Wilson as the interim leader
for Ontario's Progressive
Conservative party, Huron -
Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson
said she's "very pleased with
the results:'
"I look forward to embrac-
ing the vision that our
interim leader has," Thomp-
son said. "A vision of an
effective caucus and show-
casing the talents and expe-
rience that our party has!'
Wilson, as quoted in the
Toronto Sun, said the PC
Party has been "attacking
people for a decade" and in
his heart and the hearts of
his colleagues, they're "not
that type of people."
"He [Wilson] is absolutely
right in saying that," Thomp-
son said. "It's the start, if you
will, of a new era for the PC
party. We need to demon-
strate to the electorate that
we are the party to move this
province forward:'
Once the leadership race
begins, Thompson said the
kind of leader the PC Party
needs is one that can com-
fortably bridge the gap
between rural and urban
Ontario.
"Our party leader will
need to demonstrate com-
passion and pride in PC ide-
als," Thompson said. "Our
leader will need to be elo-
quent and an enabler, moti-
vating both our caucus and
our stakeholders as well."
Moving forward, Wilson
mentioned that he would
like to back to the grassroots
of the PC Party for ideas,
something that Thompson
believes is a great way to
strengthen their party.
"As Progressive Conserva-
tives, we need to know, from
our most basic level, the key
issues that can be remedied
from the bottom-up,"
Thompson said. "It's how we
can come to a solution from
this grassroots perspective
that will move our party and
province forward."

neering and communication
support, two roles that pro-
vide critical human
resources to Huron County
and its residents.
Steven Lund has been
hired as the county engi-
neer/director of operations.
He will be responsible for
overseeing public works and
the emergency services
departments. Lund has been
a professional engineer in
municipal government for
over 25 years.
Scott Currie has been hired
as the communication/grant
co-ordinator. He will be
responsible for maintaining
open, transparent communi-
cations with stakeholders, as
well as co-ordinating grant
submissions on behalf of staff
and assisting council to
ensure Huron's rural voice is
head by Queen's Park. Currie
has 10 years of experience
gained from public and non-
profit sectors.
