Clinton News Record, 2014-07-02, Page 22 News Record • Wednesday, July 2, 2014 Popular local store, Groves TV & Appliance Centre, celebrates its grand re -opening Tara Ostner The Clinton News Record On Fri., June 27 and Sat., June 28 Groves TV & Appli- ance Centre celebrated their grand re -opening at their new location on 272 Huron Street. The celebration included var- ious sales on appliances and bedding and a charity BBQ where all proceeds went to Clinton Minor Ball. Many people who attended the grand re -opening were impressed by the updates of the new location. As the store manager, Amanda Blenk- horn, explains, "the new loca- tion has a better lay out than the original location," To begin with, the store is com- pletely on one level now and "fully wheel chair accessible," ILJ Blenkhorn says. The new location also features a live Bosch kitchen display which helps customers visualize their potential future kitchen. Customers say that they are also impressed by the good- sized parking space that is now available at the store. Groves TV & Appliance was first started by Art Groves in 1935. In 1970, Art's son, Clayton, took over the business and, in 2009, Clay- ton's son, Dan, took over the company. The company has grown steadily over the past eight decades and providing top quality products while offering friendly, personal service has always been its main goal. In 2011, Groves TV & Appliance opened a new business, SleepMatters, located at 300 Suncoast Drive, East in Goderich. Together the two stores aim to provide the region with the latest in electronics, appliances and bedding. The company also strives to give back to its commu- nity. In 2011, it donated $7,500 to the Central Huron Community Complex and $2,000 to the Goderich Grand re -opening of Groves TV & Appliance Centre showcases sales and updates to store Tornado Relief Fund. And, when he's not busy serving his customers, owner of Groves TV & Appliance Cen- tre and SleepMatters, Dan Groves, spends his time sit- ting on the board of manage- ment for the Clinton BIA and is a volunteer firefighter. Next year Groves TV & Appliance Centre will cele- brate its 80 year anniversary.
