That's why Canadian Blood Services is asking eligible Canadians to donate blood over the holi- days and make a resolution to share more of themselves in the New Year. Whether you donate blood once or regularly throughout the year, you're making a life changing dif- ference to hospital patients and their families. Rally your friends and family together to donate blood and help save lives. The Clinton blood donor clinic will be held on Friday, December 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Huron Christian School, 87 Percival Street. There are multiple ways Canadians can resolve to share more in 2015: 1. Make an appointment to donate blood 2. Register to donate stem cells 3. Learn about donating cord blood 4. PC MPPs team up with IBC to donate $8,500 worth of CO detectors to Huron -Bruce Lisa Thompson, Huron - Bruce MPP, and Ernie Har- deman, Oxford MPP, joined Doug DeRabbie from the Insurance Bureau of Canada recently to put additional carbon monoxide detectors in the homes of Huron - Bruce residents and to raise awareness that they are needed in all homes. "Carbon Monoxide poi- soning is the leading cause of accidental poisoning deaths in North America, but many of these tragedies can be prevented by installing a CO detector," said Harde- man. "It is particularly important in the winter months to ensure your fam- ily is protected by making sure vents aren't blocked and that you have a func- tioning carbon monoxide detector:' Thompson explained that you can reduce the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning by: • checking to make sure vents, exhausts and chimneys are clear; having fuel -burning appliances serviced regu- larly; and getting a carbon monoxide detector and checking it whenever the time changes to ensure it is working. Last year the Ontario Leg- islature passed the Hawkins Gignac Act, a private mem- bers bill introduced by PC MPP Ernie Hardeman, requiring carbon monoxide detectors in Ontario homes and establishing Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week beginning November 1st each year. The Bill was named after a Woodstock family of four that tragically lost their lives after a blocked fireplace exhaust filled the house with carbon monoxide. "Carbon monoxide is dan- gerous because you can't see it, taste it or smell it," said Thompson. "The only way to ensure you and your family are protected is to reduce the risk of leaks and to get a detector." clintonnewsrecord.com Wednesday, December 24, 2014 • News Record 7 E pEC EI VE A N A DalgAL 5 $1"=O=ff row<aosMorr. $138 Bi -Weekly 569 Weekl • AdvanceTrac" with Roll lt Chit,CapaTraction and Curve Control` • Up to 7,920 Litres of ity • Active Grille Shutters • Personal Safety System 2 OWN F N499t OFFER INCLUDES $4250 YEAR-END CASH# IGHT AND AIR TAX trail I XLT MODEL WITH OPTIONAL FEATURES SHOWN ON Automatic • 360HP 5.0L V8 Transmission with Engine is 6 Sp Tow/Haul Mode • SiriusXM Satellite Radio w/ 6 -Month Prepaid Subscription • SYNC" Voice -Activated Communications and Entertainment System with 911 Assist" - LEASE FOR ONLY $299@ PER MONTH FOR 24 MONTHS WITH'2'575 DON OFFERS INCLUDE $5,500 YEAREND-CASHf OR700 FORD LEASECASHW®FREIGHTANDAIR TAX GET 0/0* FORUPTOING 72 MONTHS Old APR 2014 FOCUS SE TOP SAFET` PICK - 'ref • 760HP 2.0L 4-Cyl Ti -VCT Engine • Torque Vectoring Control • SYNC.
