A rewyou interested in bird and bat
migration over your property?
The Canadian Wildlife Service is
looking for landowners in the Clinton area
who may be interested in participating
in a migration monitoring study by
allowing a bird radar to be situated on
their property during fall migration 2014.
Ideally, bird radars would be placed in
open areas, without tall obstructions, and
have access to main power within 100 m.
Biologists will download data from the
radars every 2 weeks. Sites West of Clinton
(approx: Telephone Rd. and Tipperary
Line) are preferred. If you are interested in
participating in this monitoring program

Moving forward is the goal
for the municipality of Lamb -
ton Shores and Lambton Kent
Middlesex MPP Monte
McNaughton in regards to the
Fl tornado that went through
Grand Bend Monday. The
storm quickly tore through the
community July 27th, leaving
large trees on homes and
vehicles and power lines
down destroying the land-
scape to the tune of many mil-
lions of dollars.
For now, municipal officials
are concentrating on clearing
away the large number of
trees blown down when the
tornado, with winds estimated
at between 155 to 175 km/h,
came ashore Sunday evening
between Pinery Provincial
Park and Grand Bend.

issued watches and warnings
about severe storms Sunday,
and upgraded those at one
point to tornado warning for
eastern Lambton County and
headed that way last Monday.
Environment Canada meteor-
ologists said, "From the initial
eye -witness reports we're
been hearing, the worst of the
wind seem to happen with the
rain itself, so that could mean
a down burst event"
"They (Environment Can-
ada) were seeing signs of rota-
tion within the storm cell as it
came on shore from Lake
Huron," warning prepared-
ness meteorologist Geoff
Coulson said.
After Sunday's storm, as the
week progressed public works
crews continued to clear
downed trees from municipal
roadways to allow for safe pas-
sage of vehicles. Residents
were asked not to place trees
and brush cleaned up from
private property on the
municipal road allowance to
assist in this effort.
It's too soon to estimate what it
will cost to clean up the damage
caused by Sunday's tomado, says
Elizabeth Davis-Dagg, deputy
mayor of Lambton Shores, in the
mayor's absence.
More than 1,000 homes
were still without electricity
Tuesday morning, and that
was one of the main concerns
Davis-Dagg said she was
hearing from residents.
That number was down
from more than 4,000 without
electricity the morning follow-
ing the storm.
Davis-Dagg said the munic-
ipality's staff has been work-
ing long hours since Sunday,
and local officials have met
with a representative of Emer-
gency Management Ontario.
Council members have also
been out in the community sur-
veying the damage and provid-
ing what information they can
to residents, she said. Davis-
Dagg with other council mem-
bers toured Beach 0 Pines with
resident Cam Ivey before the
special meeting Thursday.
