The book, which served as a historical chronicle with plenty of photography for the township, was published this summer to coincide with the township's l50th anniversary. It was the recipient of a Huron Heritage grant, which aided in its production costs. Nonkes and Logan were on hand at Huron County Council's Dec. 13 committee of the whole meeting to officially receive the cheque from Warden Jim Ginn and Acting Chief Administrative Officer Meighan Wark. *** For the 2018 term, Neil Vincent was nominated to be the chair of day one of Huron County Council's committee of the whole meetings. Clerk Susan Cronin said that while she felt the county would be able to implement much of the act, and had already implemented some of it, there was one portion of it she felt the county wasn't quite ready for yet on that side. There is a part of the act, she told councillors, that would allow for councillors to access and partake in meetings remotely, via the internet using a video connection service. Cronin said that the county's information technology (IT) department wasn't ready to take on that kind of shift. She suggested revisiting it in 2018, but said it was simply too early to try and implement it in Huron County.
