Penny sale raises thousands for hospital foundations
An anniversary
The Blyth Legion Ladies Auxiliary marked its 40th annual penny sale this past week, offering
nearly 250 items at this year's event on the way to raising just under $3,000 for several local
hospital foundations. The sale wrapped up on Saturday, the same day Blyth hosted the annual
Barn Dance Jamboree. (Denny Scott photo)

While the annual Barn Dance
Jamboree and show may mark a
raucous weekend of fun and tunes at
the Blyth Community Centre and
adjacent campground, it's also
served as a great fundraising
opportunity for the Blyth Legion
Ladies Auxiliary.
For the past 40 years, including 20
years since Blyth has been hosting
the Barn Dance, the Blyth Legion
Ladies Auxiliary has hosted its
annual four-day penny sale
fundraiser benefitting local
organizations.
This year, the sale was held May
24-27 and brought in just under
$3,000.
