The F.E. Madill Secondary School rugby team was in action
last week as part of the Matthew Dinning Memorial Cup,
which the school hosts annually. This year, while Madill
officially served as the tournament hosts, the action took
place at St. Anne's Catholic Secondary School in Clinton
while the fields in Wingham are renovated. The Madill team
would eventually win the cup this year, beating the team
from St. Michael School in Stratford. Here, Lock Brendan
Gallaher is lifted by tournament MVP Colton Metske and
Ryan Zimmer on the team's way to victory. (Denny Scott photo)

Harold and Nancy Jardin greeted
worshippers and handed out the
service of worship at Knox United
Church on Sunday, April 30. Brian
Hymers welcomed the congregation
on the third Sunday of Easter. "Joy
Comes with the Dawn" (chorus
only) was the introit hymn.
On Sunday, May 7 there is no
service at Knox United Church.
Everyone is invited to
Dungannon's Anniversary Service at
11 a.m. on May 7. Speakers are
Jacquie Bishop and Grace Hallahan
and there will be special music.
Following the service, lunch will be
served.
On Wednesday, May 10 there is an
official board meeting at 7 p.m. at
Knox United Church. Everyone
wishing to know about our
upcoming vote on remits is invited
to attend the official board meeting,
although only the official board can
vote. The board felt it was important
for the congregation to be "kept in
the loop".
The board will then vote on the
remits after the videos and
discussion.
The call to worship was read
responsively. After the choir anthem
with Kae MacKendrie (organist and
choir director) singing a solo with
the choir joining in, the children's
hymn was "Come, Children Join to
Sing".
The children went to the front pew
for children's time. Brian talked of
the blind man who Jesus helped to
see. We have a wonderful gift from
God: Jesus. Brian related to the
Bible and everything we do today is
related to the Bible. Reading the
Bible can help us and that is why we
come to church.
After the Lord's Prayer the
children adjourned to Sunday
school. We listened to the Word of
God as Susan Jamieson read
scripture from Peter 1: 17-35 and
Psalm 116 responsively with the
congregation.
The hymn of response was, "0
Christian, Love" followed by Nancy
Jardin reporting on Minute for
Missions.
Larry Harper and Ken Procter
took up the offering which was
dedicated.
The closing hymn "In the Bulb
There is a Flower", the benediction
and blessing, "Go Now In Peace"
concluded the worship service.
The beautiful flower arrangements
adorning the sanctuary were placed
by Wilma Scott and families in
living memory of Murray Scott.
FROM BELGRAVE
Live by four simple
rules: Livingstone
Continued from page 18
the monastic community of Iona, off
the coast of Scotland, are flooded
with visitors every year looking
for a way of achieving peace in their
lives.
Paul doesn't ask us to commit
ourselves to such discipline, but
even sitting in his prison cell he calls
on us to look for the happy side of
life.
Each day when we wake we are
offered two roads to take us to the
end of the day.
One road is joy and the other is
worry. The road called joy does not
offer any guarantees, but it does
offer a whole lot of possibilities.
When we rise, we should make some
quiet time for ourselves. We should
consider the opportunities for a
joyful day and how we can make
these opportunities happen. Rejoice!
We should consider what gentle
ways we can work with people who
don't see life in the light of Christ.
Reach out!
In prayer we should give thanks
for all that Christ has done for us.
Remember!
If we do all this, God's peace will
come to us. Relax!
Rejoice, reach out, remember and
relax. Four Simple Rules to Bring
Peace into Our Lives, by Paul of
