Need a ride?
It was warmer than it has been recently on Monday at
Hullett Central Public School, but still cold enough to
warrant people wanting to stay out of the snow if they didn't
need to be mucking around in it. That's what Macey
Adams, above, did, bringing in her friend Ashley Kuntz,
below, for some help getting around the school's yard.

EDNA DAVIS
At Huronlea Home for the Aged,
on Friday, March 3, 2017, Mrs. Edna
Davis of Wingham passed away. She
was 99 years old.
The former Edna Elliott, wife of
the late Walter "Miller" Davis, who
predeceased her in 1979, is the last
surviving member of the Alexander
and Elizabeth (Magee) Elliott
family. Edna was predeceased by her
sisters Irene Elliott and Dorothy
Ryan and by her brothers William,
Norman, Edward and Lloyd Elliott.
She will be fondly remembered by
her nieces and nephews.
In her early working life, Edna and
her husband Miller operated
Holmedale Creamery in Wingham.
Later she worked at the Wingham
Advance Times and in the office at
Wingham District High School.
Edna then started a career teaching
in the commercial department of
F.E. Madill Secondary School. Her
interests included the Huron Chapter
of the Order of Eastern Star, the
Ladies Auxiliary at St. Paul's Trinity
Anglican Church and the Ladies
Auxiliary at the Royal Canadian
Legion Branch 180.
Visitation will be held at
McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham
on Saturday, March 11, from noon
until the time of the funeral service
at 2 p.m. with Rev. Richard Hall
officiating.
Interment will be in Wingham
Cemetery, Wingham, Ontario.
Memorial donations to Wingham
and District Hospital Foundation or
St. Paul's Trinity Anglican Church
would be appreciated as expressions
of sympathy.

RUTH OLSON
At her residence, on Thursday,
March 2, 2017, Ruth Olson of RR 5,
Wingham passed away. She was 70
years old. The former Ruth Coultes,
dear wife of Neil Olson, was the
loving mother of Joanne Olson and
Brian Heard of Waterloo, Jeff Olson
and Mickey Howes of Belgrave and
Mark and Nicole Olson of
Wingham. Ruth was the
grandmother of Jordan Heard, Lyla
Olson and Claira Olson, and the
sister of Jim and Sheryl Coultes of
Edmonton, Alberta, Ken and Linda
Coultes of Elmira, Doug Coultes of
Ripley and Doris Coultes of
Milverton. She was predeceased by
her parents Norman and Mary E.
(Dow) Coultes and her brother Grant
in 2004.
Visitation was held at McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham on
Sunday, March 5 and the funeral
service was held at McBurney
Funeral Home Ltd. on Monday,
March 6 at 1 p.m. with Brian
Hymers officiating.
Interment will take place in the
spring at Brandon Cemetery,
Belgrave.
Memorial donations to Belgrave
Arena Board, Wingham & District
Hospital Foundation or a charity of
your choice would be appreciated as
expressions of sympathy.
GEORGE GILL
George Edward Gill of Ethel
passed away surrounded by family
on Monday, Feb. 27, 2017 at
Huronlea Home for the Aged in
Brussels. Born in Ethel on Jan. 2,
1936, George was in his 82nd year.
George was the beloved husband
of the late Eileen Wood, who
predeceased him on Dec. 29, 2010.
He was the dear stepfather of
Melinda Wood of Toronto, Dan and
Lisa Wood of Owen Sound, and
Daren and Natasha Wood of
Teeswater, and the dear brother of
Jean Gill and Isabel Dietrich (Gary
Larson) all of Listowel. George will
also be missed by his nieces and
nephews. He was predeceased by his
parents Edward and Mildred.
A service of remembrance for
George will take place this spring.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations to the charity of
one's choice would be appreciated
by the family.
