IN MEMORIAM.
Lines written irloving memory of
Hazel X. Mitch0l, who died Oct.
184h, 1908. -(By Request.]
HAZEL.
I cannot think of her as dead,
Our bright faced precious child,
Whose merry laugh or happy, smile,
Filled all our hearts with joy.
The snow is lalling on her grave,
The house seems still as night,
The things she loved, with tender
hands,
Are hidden from our sight,
Our friends, so wonderfully kind,
Havgsinfinite kindness shown,
And made the sorrows of our hearts
The suffering of their own.
Our children, whert they speak of her,
With angels link her name,
And that she may be happy there,
The sweet petition frame,
But still we wait for her return,
From music lesson, or chore,
And with a bursting bosom, yearn
For greeting at the door.
We often wished that we could keep
Her pure in thought and word,
And now in Iove to as and her,
The mattered prayer is hoard,
Not to some silent neighborhood
Has that rare spirit flown,
But to loved ones gone before
Where our Father greets His own.
The tie that bound us to the earth,
Now binds us to the skies;
We know our child is living still
In. the blisa of paradise.
But we miss thee from our home, dear,
We miss thee from thy place
A shadow. o'er our life is cast,
We miss the sunshine of thy face.
W6 miss thy kind and willing hand,
Thy fond and earnest care,
Our home is dark without thee,
We miss thee everywhere.
But we must still go on,
To meet and do our part,
Amid all changes stili to hide
Your memory in our heart.
And we believe that faithful love
Will lead ns to that place
Where we shall meet, and see again
That dear, familiar face.
