LCPS 50/50
Draw
Valerie Gillies
Lucknow Sentinel
Lucknow District Public
School held their annual
50/50 draw fundraiser at
Lucknow's Music in the
Fields August 22 and 23,
2014. Volunteers from the
school sold tickets
throughout the music fes-
tival to raise funds for the
LCPS library and music
programs. The winner
received half of the mon-
ies raised, while the
remaining half will be split
equally between the two
school programs.
Educational Support
Professional at LCPS Jean
Johnston reported that
$2,590 worth of tickets
were sold during the
event. The winner of the
draw, Lee Merner of
Damascus, won $1,295.
Congratulations to both
Merner and the real win-
ners of the fundraiser, the
students at LCPS.

Volunteers Urgently Needed
for Parkinson SuperWalk
Valerie Gillies
Lucknow Sentinel
The Kincardine Parkinson
SuperWalk is scheduled to
take place on Sunday, Sep-
tember 7 beginning in Victo-
ria Park. Registration is at 1
p.m. and the walk will start
at 2 p.m.
A volunteer of the Kincar-
dine Parkinson SuperWalk is
appealing for more volun-
teers to help with the event
as the turnout has been very
low this year. Most needed
are people to pick up door
prizes and articles for the
silent auction from the busi-
nesses who have so gener-
ously donated them. People
who can help out in the park
on the day of the walk will
also be greatly appreciated.
It has been noted that
within the Kincardine Par-
kinson SuperWalk event,
Lucknow has had the most
generous supporters. This
year the town of Lucknow
has almost doubled its dona-
tions toward the walk.
There is still time to regis-
ter to participate in the
SuperWalk as a walker.
Pledge forms are available
online at www.parkinsonsu-
perwalk.ca.
Those who wish to volun-
teer can contact Steve Hick-
son for information at 1-888-
851-7378 or steve.hickson@
parkinsonsociety.ca. Volun-
teers can also just show up at
the Parkinson SuperWalk in
Victoria Park which is at
Queen Street and Durham
North in Kincardine.
Teeswater Fall Fair
The directors of the Teeswa-
ter fair are smiling. Good
weather and no dug up roads
helped to make the fair a
success.
Some things were down
slightly - attendance, home -
craft displays, 4-H Beef show,
team penning riders and kid-
dies tractor pull.
On the upside the Open
Horse show had 83 riders and
the classic car show had 97
entries. Dan desperately
wants to have100 cars by next
year. A highlight is the classic
car parade on Sunday in front
of the grandstand, piped in by
our very ownTeeswater Pipe
Band.
New events enjoyed by all:
Harley Bike pulls, Semi truck
drags, Square bale treasure
hunt and Jamie's Reptile
show.
The dance under the tent
was a success under such a
warm night
Even though the volunteers
are tired they are looking for-
ward to our 160th in 2015.
Thanks to everyone who helps
and the people who attend
the fair. We do this event for
the community and are proud
of our accomplishments.
