The Wingham Golf and
Curling Club wrapped up
the golfing leagues this
past week and turned the
ice plant on to be ready for
the curling season in a
couple weeks.
The Tuesday night ladies
closing golf and dinner was
held on September 30th.
Luanne Kerr was the big
winner taking home both the
McKinney trophy as well as
the Wilma Kerr award. Deb-
bie Currie was the recipient
of the Conron trophy.
The Wednesday senior
men had a close battle for
the Bill Dauphin memorial
award all year. The compe-
tition came down to the
last week and fittingly
ended in a three way tie
between Bill Johnston,
Doug Neil and Don Bone.
Jan Dauphin accompanied
by Barb and Joe Lobsinger
were on hand to present
the trophy to the winners.
The Thursday night men
had over 50 golfers out to
finish the record breaking
year. There were 1,448
rounds of golf played shat-
tering last year's total.
Many thanks to organizer
Bill Kerr, Cheryl the
kitchen manager and last
but not least the refresh-
ment cart girls for making
Thursday nights a huge
success.
The curling leagues are
set to start on November
3rd and many still have
room for both new and
seasoned curlers. We plan
on holding a curling clinic
on Saturday and Sunday
November 1st and 2nd.
Anyone interested in join-
ing a league or attending
the clinic should contact
Bruce at the club.
