Changes and
Corrections
There is definitely the nip of fall in
the air. The leaves are changing col-
our quickly and will soon fall to the ground
in the brisk winds. We have had our first
frost warnings. Most of the fall fairs are over
and the harvest is soon finished. We have
celebrated the bounty with our Thanksgiv-
ing traditions, old and new.
There is change all around us as Mother
Nature prepares for the next season. There
is also change in the air whenever elections
are upon us. The difference is, we have
some say as to the outcome as we are given
the right to cast our ballot. Please ensure
that you are on the Voter's List. Take the
time and effort to educate yourself on the
issues and candidates. Exercise your voting
privileges. Once the various offices have
been filled it is not time to let down your
vigilance. The elected officials are there to
represent we, the people. As such they need
you to stay engaged in the process of deci-
sion-making as we move forward into our
next season of social, economic and devel-
opmental evolution.
Take the time to engage in your commu-
nity, your school, your workplace, your
family. We only get one time around on this
road of life. Make the most of it and make a
difference.
Congratulations to those who partici-
pated in the Lucknow Little Mudder to
ensure the survival of the Lucknow Fall Fair.
Also congratulations to Daniel Sloetjes for
being chosen as recipient for the first
awarding of the Bruce County Public Works
Scholarship.
Along with achievements there are
always some negatives. I for one am posi-
tive that I am not immune. As Editor of the
Sentinel I have that pointed out quite often.
Corrections from the October 8 edition:
In the article "Covenanting Service at
Lucknow United Church" I apologize for a
very bad spelling job. The Chair of Council
is Evans Helm.
Apparently my biggest blunder has
brought a chuckle to several people. It was
pointed out that in both photos on the back
page of the Lucknow Fall Fair Baby Show
we have some very strong new members in
the community as it says in the caption that
each of the babies is actually "holding"
their parent. All I can say is, when I misread
my notes, at least I was consistent...
Thank you to those who have held me to
task in correcting these errors.
LUCKNOW NEWS
By Ruth Dobrensky
Well now that we're all turkied out for
another Thanksgiving, we hope that eve-
ryone had a wonderful family get-
together before winter sets in. Our little
family held Thanksgiving on Saturday
which gave me a little break before Tues-
day's Table yesterday at St. Peter's where
we had, you guessed it, Thanksgiving
dinner for all our guests.
Now that Tuesday's Table has begun
once again, anyone who wishes to come
out is welcome to attend. To remind eve-
ryone, there are posters around town
with dates and locations. Next Tuesday's
Table on Oct. 21, is being hosted by Luc -
know Community Christian Reformed
Church, unfortunately, their church is
still under renovations, as a result, they
will host the dinner at St. Peter's Parish
Hall. The Oct. 28 dinner will be held at
Lucknow United Church.
Happy 95th birthday to Jean MacLeod
who will be celebrating this coming Sat-
urday. Congratulations Jean.
This past Saturday, The Anglican
Church of Ascension in Kinlough cele-
brated their 150th anniversary with a
very special service.
Many of us have been enjoying the fall
colours lately, it's too bad they don't last
very long. My only hope is that we have a
nice long, mild fall before winter sets in.
Now that fall is here, we can look for-
ward to all sorts of church dinners and
events to look forward to, keep your ears
and eyes open so you can enjoy all that
good food, fun and entertainment.
Although I wasn't able to attend, I was
informed by several people that last Sat-
urday's "A Sepoy Town Extravaganza"
was a wonderful show with fantastic
music and costumes for all to enjoy.
Sympathy of the community to the
families of: Gerrit Meurs, 86, Lucknow;
and Bonnie Hodges, 64, Dungannon.
