The Lucknow Sentinel, 2014-10-15, Page 22 Lucknow Sentinel • Wednesday, October 15, 2014 Mayoral Candidates for Huron -Kinloss Mitch Twolan My Name is Mitch Twolan and I live in Point Clark with my partner Brittny and my 3 children Brandon, Kyler and Emma. I am a registered Real Estate Broker and own Lake Range Realty Ltd. in Point Clark I was raised in the village of Ripley by my parents Bernie and Shirley Twolan and have 2 bothers, Clint and Steve. I was a member of the Point Clark Kinsmen Club for 10 yrs, I have been involved in minor hockey for the past 17 yrs as a hockey parent or coach. I started as a Councillor in 1999 then Deputy Mayor and finally Mayor for the Township of Huron -Kinloss for the past 10 yrs. I have been a Councillor for the County of Bruce for 10 yrs and Warden of the County of Bruce in 2007. I am currently the Chair of the Bruce County Library Board, Vice Chair of the Grey Bruce Heath Unit, Vice Chair of the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Cities Initiative and board member of South West Economic Alliance represent- ing Bruce County. If re-elected Mayor of the Township of Huron -Kinloss I wiE continue with the support of Council to provide the ser- vices and amenities that are now in place throughout the Township. I will not however promise a 0% tax increase to gain your votes. Experience has taught me over the past 15 yrs on Council you must plan to make plans. We have seen the cutting of the Ontario Munici- pal Partnership Funding by over $500,000 in the past 5 yrs, the increase in operating expenses such as Hydro, Pro- pane, Gas and Oil to name a few. Safe Drinking Water and Water Quality will continue to take priority for me as Mayor. Thus the infrastructure that is required to maintain and upgrade safe drinking water is very costly but a necessity. I will continue my work as Mayor to bring Natural Gas to our Township. I have heard loud and clear from many of our tax payers and business community members that the rising costs of heating homes and running businesses is becoming too much for the average owner to continue pay- ing. I also know there are con- cerns with many taxpayers of the costs associated with this project and who pays. I want to assure everyone that this will not be a project that will be paid for by all taxpayers, it will be a user pay project. We need help from the Province and Federal Government to make this pro- ject happen. As Mayor I will continue to support our Agricultural Com- munity and the Nuclear Indus- try. These two industries are the backbone of our Township and the growth we have experi- enced can mostly be attributed to these industries as we have grown by just over 4% since the last census. When Agriculture and Nuclear are doing well we all benefit. As Mayor I will con- tinue to supportlhe Deep Geo- logical Repository for Low and Intermediate Level Waste that has been proposed by Ontario Power Generation at the Bruce Site. Also as Mayor and the Chair of the Community Liason Committee for the Township of Huron -Kinloss Twill continue to support the Adaptive Phased Management Process of finding a willing host community to store all of Canada's Spent Nuclear Fuel. I have said this many times that it would have been easier for Township Council not to have involved ourselves in this process but something has to be done with the spent fuel and passing this issue on to the next generation is not acceptable. As Mayor I feel the obligation to see this process through no matter what decision is made by the taxpay- ers of Huron-Ktnloss. As Mayor I will continue to support Council, Township Staff, Ripley and LucknowFire Departments, OPP, EMS, Luc - know and Ripley Schools, Ser- vice Clubs and allVolunteers in the Township of Huron -Kinloss. As Mayor I will also keep our environment and climate change in all of our decision- making processes. We must find a balance to promote development, tourism and rec- reation along the Lake Huron Shoreline and I believe this can be achieved through education, outreach and communication. As Mayor I will continue to sup- port the Pine River Water Initia- tive in the projects they have planned for the Pine River. I have only briefly described my platform but please contact me if you have any questions. If re-elected Mayor I will do my best to represent the taxpayers of Huron -Kinloss. I ask for your support and vote on October 27. Arthur Koberinsld I am a HTAT G 0 TyouR NT -UMBER? The Lucknow Sentinel's 2015 Phone B 00 Kirc CAMING 11000N! I am witness to a deception, a confidence job or a slight of hand. Most of us are aware of the ancient quote, "the pen is mightier than the sword',' yet the "civilized" nations of the world seem to be in a perpetual state of war. We are trained to dismiss "conspiracy theories" and encouraged to accept "scientific theories',' as if it is an impossibil- ity for scientists to conspire. Our media, news agencies, educa- tion systems and our politicians influence our perception of our world, our reality. History has shown that those who speak out, dissent, are marginalized, criticized and made a mockery of. The public education system teaches our young the "approved curriculum" and new and ancient ideas are negated and cast aside. I am witness to much harm and injury to our beautiful young minds so eager to learn. This is not freedom. I will not sit on the sideline and say "somebody should do something': This is why I am putting forth my law- ful, equitable name "Arthur Koberinslci" as candidate for Mayot I have met with municipal officers, mayors, clerks, judges, police men and women and Zimfos Chad Mann 519-357-3015 www.kruzinmannlimos.com A Division of Lloyd Collins Construction Ltd. RON LOCKIE - MASTER ELECTRICIAN 519_291_8264 "DON'T BE LEFT IN THE DARK, PHONE ABOUT A GENERATOR OR A GENERLINK HOOK UP TODAY!" RESIDENTIAL - AGRICULTURAL INDUSTRIAL COMMERCIAL ECRA/ESA MASTERS L10ENCE# 7002179 OVER 30 YEARS EXPERIENCE asked many questions regard- ing my concerns. The most common response has been, "you need to speak with an attorney" or "the lawyers did if: This leads me to question, "Why?" Does this reflect the will of the people? Lawyers are legislators who write the codes, statutes, rules and regulations for corpora- tions. They do not write law. These codes, statutes, rules and regulations are given the "force and effect of law',by those who consent to be govemed. This is how the "pen is mightier than the sword': We have been taught "gen- eral" accepted terms and defi- nitions of words and sentence structure in public schools, while the "legal" profession uti- lizes a different specific struc- ture of language most are una- ble to understand. It is our natural right to ques- tion the "status quo',' or the state of things. In fact it is our duty. Am I aslcingwhy? It is good that people are questioning their municipal council. A population of informed individuals capable of critical thinking and self determination is not a population that can be manipulated or deceived. I view the people of this Township of Huron -Kinloss in this light. Each one of us has the "Abso- lute right" to be who and what we choose to be, in relationship to all others, knowing that natu- ral law is.... do no harm. The people who represent "municipal" interests have entered public service for the right reasons. To help. All officers and directors of corporations have a duty to dis- sent within the corporation when policies of that corpora- tion cause harm. Are we asking our officials the proper questions? The people are the government, the administrators have assumed a false superiority, as we have allowed this. People should not fear the "govern- ment" or elected officers as they are supposed to work for the people.
