COUNTY OF BRUCE PLANNING DEPARTMENT
NOTICE OF A PUBLIC MEETING
PROPOSED COUNTY OFFICIAL PLAN AMENDMENT
(Section 22, the Planning Act, 1990)
TAKE NOTICE that a Public Meeting will be held on November 20, 2014 at 9:30AM5 in the
County of Bruce Council Chambers, 30 Park St, Walkerton ON in order to consider Planning
Application File # BCOPA189-14.00 as outlined below.
An amendment is proposed to the County of Bruce Official Plan which would remove all
references to "Locally Significant Wetlands" from the Plan. The Schedule "C" Constraints map
would also be amended to remove all areas of Locally Significant Wetlands. The Hazard Land
mapping of Schedule "A" is not subject to revision under this amendment.
Text changes proposed include, but are not limited to:
• Deletion of references to the category of "locally significant wetlands" (example the
Environment "General Policies" Section 4.3.2 .3.)
• Deletion of the specific policies dealing with "locally significant wetlands" that require an
Environmental Impact Study if development is proposed within 60m of a Locally
Significant Wetland [Sections 4.3.2.4. and 4.3.3 .2 ii)]
• Removal of reference to Locally Significant Wetlands from Niagara Escarpment Plan
policies within the Official Plan (Section 4.3.2.4)
Additional Information: The draft amendment wording, schedules (maps) which show the
location of Locally Significant Wetlands throughout the County and its 8 municipalities, and any
additional documents are available on-line at vvww.brucecounty.on.ca (under Quick Links,
Planning Applications and search by File No. BCOPA189-14.00) or at the Wiarton Planning
Office: 578 Brown Street, Wiarton between 8:30 and 4:30 Monday to Friday.
Questions and Written Comments: Please direct your questions or comments to the Wiarton
Planning Office at the contact information below (phone, e-mail or fax) or by visiting the Wiarton
Planning Office during office hours. Written comments should be forwarded to the Planner
responsible for the file, Chris LaForest by November 7th, 2014.
Any Person may attend the Public Meeting and/or make written or verbal representation either
in support of or in opposition to the proposed Amendment.
If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written
submissions to the County of Bruce before the proposed amendment(s) are adopted, the
person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the County of Bruce to the Ontario
Municipal Board.
If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written
submissions to the County of Bruce before the proposed amendment(s) are adopted, the
person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the
Ontario Municipal Board unless, in the opinion of the Board, there are reasonable grounds to
add the person or public body as a party.
Any Person who has concerns or objections to the application is encouraged to contact the
Bruce County Planning Department at the above address prior to the scheduled meeting.
Please note: Comments and opinions submitted on these matters, including the originator's
name and address, become part of the public record, may be viewed by the general public and
may be published in a Planning Report and Council Agenda.
Notification: If you wish to be notified of the adoption of the proposed amendment(s), or of the
refusal of a request to amend, you must make a written request to the Bruce County Planning
