The ribbon -cutting cere-
mony for the Lucknow
Splash Pad took place on
September 22, 2014.
Past President of the Luc -
know Lions, Brian Wolfe,
led the presentation
speeches by commending
the many groups who were
involved in the project for
working together for com-
pletion. Several representa-
tives of the various groups
were present and were
asked to speak, as well.
The new splash pad is
fully accessible. It was
noted that the committee
had asked for a $60,000
Trillium Grant and were
pleased that they received
the full amount requested
toward the project. The pad
was opened for use in mid
June until mid September
and was quite busy over the
summer.
Wolfe gave a special
mention to two local busi-
nesses who went above and
beyond in their technical
skills, for supplying cement
and financial help. These
are Cliff's Plumbing and
Porter Cement.
The following groups and
their representatives were
integral to the makeup of
the Lucknow and District
Splash Pad Committee:
Lucknow Legion, Ken Fis-
cher; Lucknow Kinnettes,
Helena Jacobsen; Lucknow
Kinsmen, Steve Neeb; Luc -
know Lions, Brian Wolfe;
Lucknow Arena and Recre-
ation Committee, Mark
Hackett. There were also
two working committees:
chairperson of the Building
Committee, Ambrose Red-
mond; chairperson of the
Fundraising Committee,
Barry Johnson; Community
Representative for the Tril-
lium Foundation, Bertha
Scott.
