The Business and Indus-
try meeting, under the
leadership of Erima
Holdenby met on May 15,
2014 at Pineriver Cheese
Factory.
Our tour started with
guide Lynn explaining how
Pineriver Cheese started in
1885 and has been going
ever since except for time
off because of their fire.
The milk that is shipped
in from surrounding farms
is put in big cooling vats,
and after going through
many stages is finally put
in cold storage to age

Excited brother Sid and loving parents Chris & Lesley Congram
of Toronto with proud grandparents Lloyd & Glenda Morrison of
Lucknow and David & Marg Congram of Toronto welcomed
Bodie Cy Congram

anywhere from a few
months up to seven years
or more. It is the only place
in Ontario that cheese is
aged naturally.
The employees work
really hard to produce
such quality products,
even chocolate cheese,
that is very much like
candy.
We were shown a splen-
did video and were also
given different cheeses to
sample and went into
their fabulous store to
shop for goodies to take
home.
Then on to Ripley to
have lunch in Michelle's
Restaurant. Even with no
hydro we were served a
great meal.
President Charlene
McEwan had a reading for
spring, and any business
was discussed.
Next we went to the Rip-
ley Pottery Shop owned
and operated by Susan
Nichol.
Susan explained how
starting with just some
moist clay, after working
with it, firing it, glazing it,
then firing it again a fabu-
lous piece of glazed pot-
tery is produced. It was a
great learning experience.
Then off to I.C. Green-
houses to see all the won-
derful plants for spring.
Lots and lots of beautiful
flower baskets, pots, per-
ennials, etc. to purchase.
Then after a wonderful
day away learning about
some great businesses in
our community we went
home.
