The Lucknow Sentinel, 2014-05-14, Page 10Wednesday, May 14, 2014 • Lucknow Sentinel 11 Red Tent Gather Linda Johnston Facilitator Red Tent On April 24th our Grassroots Red tent Sisterhood had a very successful second gathering. We had 15 attendees from through- out the county. After our welcome and introductions Vicky Morrison led us in a couple of yoga relaxa- tion techniques to help unwind and be relaxed to help ready us for our evening of fun and sharing. The new Moon is in Taurus this month so we need to remind our- selves to" build the vision of our Higher Self rather than our Lower Self': As well we need to balance the pursuit of our desires against the emotional ramifications. We are all affected by the moon cycles and always need to be aware of our inner needs and reconnect with ourselves. Even the phase of the moon when you were born is indicated in your personality. One of our Sisters gifted to our Circle an authentic Native "Talk- ing Stick" . She explained the pur- pose and importance of the proper use of the" Talking Stick" in this First Nations Tradition. When someone takes their turn with the "Talking Stick" they talk and everyone just listens. There is no commenting, no judging, no thinking about what you want to say back to them just listen. When they put down or pass on the talking stick, then another person can pick up the stick and speak what is important for them to say. Our Circle discussion this month was "Overcoming odds, Transformation, Rising above': Several Sisters had some valuable lessons that they shared. This is how we learn and understand from each other. Don't forget you can put these items in your blue box now! RIGID PLASTIC PACKAGING marked with the numbers 1 to 7. Please see our "What can I recycle?" page on our website for details. It was a wonderful way to open conversation and to get to meet new Sisters at a new level of caring and understanding as well as nurture each other. We are excited to announce that September 19th we will be hosting at Grassroots Rural Retreat Isadora Gabrielle Leiden - frost PHD from Chicago. Isa- dora made the Red Tent Film "Things We Don't Talk About': She travels all over the world present- ing screenings of the movie and opening the Red tent experience ■ I ng to any woman who wants to know more about us. She has been a key person in building and growing the revival of this ancient and val- uable tradition. Stay tuned for more details. We hope this will provide the opportunity for other communities to open their own Red tent Circles. Our next Red Tent will be May 29th at 7 PM. The theme will be "planting the seeds for our souls journey". We welcome any new sisters.
