The Lucknow Legion would like to congratulate (from left to

The plays
the thing
Lucknow News
Ruth Dobrensky
When you have a good play with a
good cast, you have a success. This
spring's HAWK production was just
such a play. The cast and crew did a
great job this year and we hope they
find many more such plays to produce
for our enjoyment.
The last of the bowling banquets took
place last week and now that the indoor
bowling season is over, we can look for-
ward to our locals out at the lawn bowl-
ing club. We hope they have good sum-
mer weather and a good season.
The entire community has been very
busy lately with the town wide yard
sales and all the other events and
organizations gearing up for a summer
of activity. I really like the idea of the
rain barrels to help people conserve
water. They can be a big help in the
summer when the township puts a ban
on watering lawns etc.
Now that the garden centres are open
for business, I expect to see a lot of peo-
ple out buying plants for their flower
and food gardens. I'm hoping the
weather will stay warm enough so that
when I fill my boxes and pots that the
flowers will thrive and grow.
I see that the Lucknow Walk for for
Dog Guides is coming up soon, it's a
great cause, support them if you are
able by a donation or by walking. You'll
be able to help provide guide dogs for
disabled people, a vital way to keep the
disabled active and living in our com-
munities, not living "outside" in
isolation.
Well the news is that my great-
nephew Nick and I are going on an
adventure to Toronto for the Victoria
Day weekend. Toronto may not be
much of an adventure to you, but Nick
hasn't been there much and we are
going to take in a
Chinese exhibit at
the ROM, a visit to
Chinatown, a stop
at the Hockey Hall
of Fame and what-
ever else we can
cram into two
days. We had
hoped to take in a
Jays game, but
they aren't at
home that week-
end, so the Hockey
Hall of Fame it is.
